Uneven crowns: which is better Zirconia crowns or eMax crowns for anterior teeth? Advice? (photos)

Question

Today I had my 2 anterior replaced with zirconia crowns. The rest with emax veneers. Now that it’s all cemented I saw that right front tooth is shorter than the left. I told my dentist that it’s not even. He said that he will do Invisalign treatment to make it even. I also think that the zirconia crowns looks so unnatural. Can I redo them without paying again since I am not satisfied with the outcome? Does Invisalign can change the uneven length crowns?

It is best to discuss your wants, regarding the front teeth crowns already permanently cemented with your treating dentist. Usually we do not mix zerconia porcelain with emax porcelains to restore the smile line cosmetically, since the optical properties on each porcelain is different. Meaning zerconia is much brighter and whiter and Emax is more translucent.They are both strong, not much difference as far as strength. As far as length of teeth, your left front tooth , the gum is higher and not symmetrical with the right front tooth. Unfortunately if your gums are not exactly symmetrical, one tooth will look longer than the other!

I would recommend you continue to talk with your dentist about doing whatever needs to be done to make you happy. Most dentists will stand by their work and do whatever is needed to make you happy.Zirconia vs. e.Max is difficult to recommend without having all of the information. Zirconia is stronger and far less likely to break. We can even veneer porcelain to a Zirconia substrate. We also have more translucent Zirconia that can be used for more aesthetic needs. If e.Max veneers were used then e.Max crowns should also work and e.Max is highly aesthetic.Bottom line is you should be happy with the results and should insist that your concerns are addressed until they are resolved.Good luck!

In my professional opinion, Emax is a more esthetic porcelain to use in the front.  If you are not happy with your crowns, make sure you communicate this to your dentist.  You shouldn't have to do invisalign to correct the alignment of your teeth that were just permanently cemented.
