I'm taking 1mg Finasteride orally and 5mg Minoxidil topically. Can adding topical Finasteride increase efficiency?

Hi, I'm taking 1mg finesterid orally daily. And also talking 5% minoxidil twice daily. Shall I use topical 5% minoxidil solution & 0.1mg finesterid combination for better results. Does using oral finesterid and applying topical finestride solution helps regrowth of hair with higher efficiency. Thanks

Excellent question. First of all. I will suggest you to see a local hair loss specialist for a detailed evaluation (before and after photos) and clinical story of your case and the medical treatment. Second, there is not clinical data and research studies that show that the combination of oral and topical Finasteride and topical and oral Minoxidil  better results vs oral Finasteride and 5% topical Minoxidil only. So, if you don't have any oral Finasteride side effects then you can take it and include 5% topical Minoxidil. Good luck.

Adding additional finasteride via this means is unlikely to help much if a male is already using finasteride at 1 mg. You will want to have a good discussion with your physician. There are options for additional 5 alpha reductase inhibition (ie dutasteride, etc) if that is a route that you and your doctor feel is appropriate to take.

The dosage of finasteride has been determined as most effective at the 1mg level. Most people do no see more value when they increase the dose
