Laser hair removal burn complications (Photo)

Question

I am a 21 year old male, 5’11”, 160 lbs, fitzpatrick type III. In 2020 + 2021 I had laser hair removal on the buttocks + anal region by a dermatologist. I began to burn after several treatments. I informed my doctor and at my next treatment I got a blister. I then stopped altogether and have been dealing with bleeding and pain in the area ever since. I exercise, eat plenty of fiber, and stay hydrated, but frequently experience discomfort + occasional bleeding while using the bathroom.

i am so sorry this happened to you.  May i ask what is your nationality.  By the looks of your picture it looks like you may be a skin type 5 not a 3.  This means you would have needed laser hair removal with a yag beam instead of an alex beam.  If too short a beam is used, you can  end up with permanent hyperpigmentation or blistering that may not go away.  Please make sure by seeing a physician that you do not have any type of skin cancer in that area that needs to be treated from the laser damage.

Unlikely that you still have bleeding from the hair removal. Perhaps some other cause for this abnormal bleeding. The burns usually go away in a few days, and although uncommon these blisters can happen after laser. I would have reduced the fluence in the treatment for a more pleasant result.
