It’s not uncommon to feel a sharp but mild pain around your incision sites, even months after gastric sleeve surgery, especially if you’ve recently increased your activity level. Since the pain isn’t pulling or severe, it’s likely due to scar tissue sensitivity, as healing continues for several months and scar tissue can feel tight when stretched during movements like bending or twisting. More vigorous workouts, particularly those involving core engagement, heavy lifting, or frequent bending, can put pressure on healing tissues and cause discomfort. Nerve healing or irritation could also be a factor, as small nerves that were cut during surgery regenerate over time, sometimes leading to sharp, tingling, or shooting sensations. Additionally, minor muscle strain from increased movement may be contributing to the discomfort. Pay attention to when the pain occurs and modify your workouts if needed. If it happens during specific movements, taking a break from excessive core engagement for a few days may help. Applying a warm compress or taking an over-the-counter pain reliever can also provide relief. However, if the pain worsens, becomes constant, or is accompanied by redness, swelling, or discharge, it would be best to check with your surgeon to rule out any issues like an internal suture irritation or a hernia. Since it has been four months, it’s unlikely to be anything serious, but listening to your body and adjusting your activity level is always a good approach.
