Will my nipple placement change after breast reduction? (photo)

Thanks for your question! I would imagine that things will drop a bit. I know it’s hard to be patient but with surgery, it is so important. Give you breast (and surgeon) some time to see how things settle and change. I can also see that you still have your bandages on which are lifting and distorting things as well. Good luck!

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. You do need to allow your results time to mature but I too would be concerned that the operated side will result in a nipple that is higher than the non-operated side.

Nipple placement can change after a breast reduction surgery, but it largely depends on the specific surgical technique used, the skill of the surgeon, and individual factors. You are very early in the recovery process and can expect changes ahead. Resolution of swelling and settling will occur of the breast, including the nipple. Continue to follow the advice of your surgeon. Any concerns can be discussed along the way.

While your one nipple/areola is much higher now 2 weeks post reduction, your surgeon is correct!!
The breasts drop significantly over the first 4-6 months after a reduction and the nipple height also drops with the breast. Sometimes, there can be an issue with bottoming out where the nipple end up pointing too high if the breast tissue falls too much.
Give it 6 months post op before worrying about the asymmetry.

Best to post before photos so we can compare the before to now appearances. Now is waiting game fr 4-6 months. Then you may need stage 2 surgery to attain more symmetry.

Hi and welcome to our forum!From your extremely early postoperative photo (surgical tape still in place), I note the asymmetry (as expected). Prior to breast reduction, preoperative markings were placed on your chest. These "landmarks" become extremely important as guideposts as swelling will begin to distort the tissues. Following the procedure, swelling will distort the size and shape of the breast. Swelling is the result of inflammation, which is a normal part of the healing process. It takes several months for the skin envelope to reconfigure to the newly formed breast mound and for the breast to descend into its final position. It takes 6-12 months for complete healing.Give it more time! Express your concerns to your plastic surgeon.Best wishes...
