Is Aviclear suitable for oily rosacea skin?

Question

I have rosacea which I’m convinced is triggered by overproduction of sebum which I started experiencing in my early 40s. I’ve been going around in circles to try and treat the rosacea but would like to now try and fix the oiliness before I do any more rosacea treatments as the treatments now feel like a waste of money. Is the link between rosacea and oiliness proven and can I receive Aviclear treatments if I have rosacea?

Thanks lsabine for your question! Yes, there is a recognized correlation between rosacea and oiliness. Approximately 75% of rosacea sufferers report having oily skin, generally owing to hyperactive sebaceous (oil) glands. Rosacea is an inflammatory disease of the sebaceous glands. Increased sebum production and glandular enlargement brought on by inflammation can exacerbate irritation and further acidify the skin. 
AviClear is FDA-cleared especially for acne, but it is widely used "off-label" by dermatologists to control the oily component of rosacea. 
When oil gland hyperactivity is the main cause of inflammatory lesions (bumps/pustules) or early skin thickening, it can be very beneficial.
By the way, it doesn't work for vascular symptoms like obvious broken capillaries, background redness, or persistent flushing.
