Yes you can. Provided you take normal doses there is no harm in doing so and probably some benefit, mainly in terms of healing and reduced chance of developing pain syndromes following surgery. All the best with your recovery,Dean
First of all make sure this is answered by your own surgeon. Vitamin C will have no effect on convalescence from a facelift. It will do you no good it will do you no harm.
Yes, you can resume your vitamin C after your facelift. But just take a normal daily dose; there's little proof that taking a megadose will improve your results in any way.
Absolutely-we actually recommend patients take vitamin C supplements the first two weeks after any cosmetic procedure;Your body will need more during the healing process.
There is no reason why you shouldn't take Vit C during your recovery period. Vit C is part of a healthy diet and supplementation is recommended in the postop phase.
Definitely! I recommend normal daily doses of Vitamin C, zinc and L-lysine. After surgery, it has been found that Vitamin C levels drop quite a lot. Vitamin C is needed for the formation of new connective tissue between cells, required for wound healing. Together with other amino acids, L-Lysine forms a necessary part of the basic structure of collagen which is required at the wound site. Although amino acids can be manufactured by our own bodies, during times of stress - such as surgery - the body needs additional help and this means adding them through the diet. Zinc is beneficial to the immune system, which can diminish if you have surgery. Zinc supplements are commonly used to reduce the severity of colds and flu, and it has also been used to help wound healing.Good luck with your recovery.
Thanks for your question,We recommend Vitamin C before and after our surgeries. Vitamin C helps cross-link the fibers of collagen and makes them strong. It's a water soluble vitamin and what your body doesn't use you'll just pee out. We continue making scar for about six weeks after surgery and typically that's as much as we will make. The scar however will continue to mature and remodel (soften) for up to 18 months.Things that make scar better are: Time, pressure, massage, topical vitamin E (some people think so), silicone sheeting and some other medicines.I hope this helpsStephen M.
