Question

I had IPL done on a broken capillary on my cheekbone/under eye. The swelling and extra redness has now gone and the capillary looks just the same as before. Will it fade? The IPL was done at 26 joules and I think the nurse did two passes. My skin type is very pale (ghost like lol), dry and sensitive. I have also been on accutane in the last 3-4 months. I have had IPL before and the results were great I just cannot remember how long it took for the redness/dilated blood vessels to disappear.

IPL treatments are ideally spaced 3-4 weeks apart for this type of situation. There is no guarantee that the blood vessel is going to clear, but you really need to wait until at least that third week to know for sure what your response is. Often, the provider can see a change in the vessel immediately that reassures them that the lesion has been adequately treated and they can give you a prediction about whether a subsequent treatment will be needed. Alternatively, they may not see any change, and may suspect a second treatment--or a different laser--is needed. Be patient and good luck!
