Will Invisalign bring down Canine tooth

Question

My teeth are otherwise straight apart from one upper canine that is higher up than the other teeth. I had my wisdom teeth extracted and I've now started Invisalign but I keep reading reviews to tell me that Invisalign does not work to bring down teeth? If Invisalign produced clincheck and produced the aligners, surely it's then possible? as in, my treatment is not pointless right? Or is the plan to first move my other teeth and use something else (ie bands) to bring down the canine? worried...

Hello,I have done several cases where I had to bring down a tooth and even the canine with Invisalign.  It is a harder movement but I have never had a problem with achieving the movement.  The key is to make sure you get all of your hours in.  Cooperation is the key to success.Good Luck!

Extrusion of teeth is one of the more challenging movements using Invisalign due to "pushing" nature of removable appliances.  With braces and wires, we can pull the teeth.  However, just like with braces, it is the experience and planning of your doctor that makes the difference.  You aren't buying Invisalign to do your treatment.With regards to ClinCheck simulations, I can get one to flip a bottom front tooth up into upper arch, but that will not happen in real life.  It is the doctor's responsibility to create a ClinCheck that will happen biologically and physically in the mouth.We have extruded canines in treatment.  Sometimes they will require buttons, attachments or elastics, to aid in movement of the tooth.

The upper canine teeth have the longest roots in the mouth. Invisalign can bring down (or extrude) teeth to a certain amount but there are limitations to what can be done with aligners alone. Sometimes elastics may be required to help the tooth move. The Clincheck is a simulation and and the aligners follow the simulation, but that does not mean that the teeth will move exactly as planned.
