Eyes asymmetry after DST double eyelid and epicanthoplasty. What kind of revision would I need? (Photo)

Question

I did dst and epi almost 1 and half month ago. One of the inner corner of my eye seems longer. One eye have more white area. Furthermore, the smaller eye seem to have higher eyelid tapering. Sometimes i feel like one of my eyeball is higher than the other. Or when the eyeball move, its not proportioned to each other. My eyes werent like this beforr surgery. I know i have to wait for at least 6 months for revision. But i need reassurance. What kind of revision i would need? Thank you

While your eyes and eyelids do have some asymmetry, it is a little difficult to determine how much of this relates to your preexisting asymmetry and how much is a product of your surgery without examining your pre-operative appearance.  Regardless, you do not have a bad result and your symmetry may improve as you continue to heal.  Give yourself at least 3-6 months of recovery before you even begin to consider a revision procedure.

Less than 2 months is too soon to think about revision, be guided by your surgeon about checking the progress of your swelling and asymmetry. Then explore with your surgeon what kind of revision would be needed at that time- too high of a crease is a common reason why revision is undertaken.

At six weeks postop, there may be some swelling that prevents you from seeing your final result. Give yourself time to heal. If the issues persist, discuss them with your surgeon. The asymmetry if your eyebrows may be contributing to your eyelid asymmetry.

Hi c856lie,Since we do not have your photos before surgery for comparison, we cannot give a comprehensive evaluation for the result of your eyelid surgery and epicanthoplasty, however, should you decide to have a revision procedure, it will be best to wait for at least 3 months post-op. Several other techniques like short incision, and conventional upper eyelid surgery can be used to improve the areas you are not satisfied with.
