Answer: Trouble breathing after facelift What you describe is certainly not normal. You need to immediately call your surgeon so he or she can assess the situation. Sometimes excessive swelling can give patients A feeling of construction. Management for this ranges from simple head elevation with intermittent cold compresses to a short course of steroids. It is also important to rule out other causes such as a hematoma in your neck. Although not likely based on your description, your surgeon always needs to rule out the possibility of a pulmonary embolism whenever a patient is short of breath immediately after their procedure.

Answer: DIFFICULTY SWALLOWING AND BREATHING AFTER LOWER FACELIFT I have never had this problem in my 33 years of practice. The neck should feel tight, but not to the pointwhere you feel you can not swallow or breath properly. The post-op bandages will sometimes get tightaround the neck and head after you arrive home. I always advise my patients that there might be additionalswelling and if so, to loosen the exterior ace bandage to make things more comfortable. I have experiencedseveral patients, who were anxious and needed a prescription for this anxiety. But if you are trulyexperiencing trouble with swallowing and breathing, this could be an allergic reaction and I would advisecalling 911 or getting to an emergency clinic as soon as possible.
