When will the throbbing pain go away after a root canal?

hi, I had a 1st stage rootcanal done this morning -still throbbing badly- getting worse. on antibiotics more that 24hrs but still no improvement. Any suggestions?

Hi:Normally the pain can last 3-7 days.  It is best to combine the anitbioitic with an anti-inflammatory medication such as Advil.  However, before you take any other medication it is best to consult with your dentist.Best,Dr. Maddahi

Antibiotics and anti inflammatory/ analgesic drug should be used during the Root canal procedure days. But if it is unbearable pain you may remove the dressing/ filling on the tooth to allow open canals which will reduce pressure. There is an option of single visit root canal therapy which require just 20- 45 minutes to do entire root canal therapy thanks to rotary endodontics and laser disinfection
