Did my dentist shave my teeth down when it wasn’t completely necessary?

Terrific757198
I bit down on a fork very hard by accident, creating cracks in my two front teeth as seen in these photos. They were not cracked off but my dentist said she could see the cracks from the back side starting to come through. She was very rude and dismissive so now I am worried, was shaving them and getting veneers seemingly necessary? Should I go get a second opinion for peace of mind even though it’s too late and they’re shaved? I asked for any alternatives she said not at all. Did this NEED them
