Can I wear a retainer after dental bonding?

I have had my two front teeth bonded. I’m afraid to put a retainer on because I dont want the bonding to come off my teeth. Im also afraid to do a dental impression because of this. Will wearing a retainer daily make the boxing come off the teeth? It seems it would put a lot of stress on the teeth from taking it on and off. Thanks
