Arteries and Veins During Nose Surgery?

Hello, I would like to know if surgeon cuts arteries and veins during the surgery or not? I`m asking because my mother had a surgery and she told me that she was bleeding a lot during it because of that and I`m not sure whether the surgeon cuts them or not. In her case he obviously did that. They had quite a problem to stop the bleeding. Can you please also tell me if you put stitches through cartilage or just skin? I`m going on rhinoseptoplasty next month so I need to know. Thank you.

I don't recommend that my Rhinoplasty patients stick anything inside their nose, including Q-tips which, which IMHO can disrupt sutures and incision lines.  You however should ask and follow the instructions of your Rhinoplasty Surgeon during your post Rhinoplasty stage.
