Thermage and Venus Legacy - do they destroy fat cells?

Why so many women report having lose skin and worse sagging of skin after thermage and Venus legacy. These treatments are recommended for tightening of facial skin, but how safe are they? Do they destroy fat cells?

Thank you for your question! I can only speak on the behalf of Thermage as I am not familiar with Venus Legacy. When Thermage is done improperly and too much heat is added, there is a chance that some fat tissue can be destroyed. If your Thermage technician is well trained and experienced then the risk of this is nil. The goal of Thermage is to stimulate your body's response to build collagen to help lift and tighten the skin. Hope this helps!

Hello and thank you for your question! Thermage is a treatment that uses radio heat frequency to stimulate collagen in the skin, therefore your return on investment is not immediate, but about 4-6 months later! What we look for in those post procedure months to come is a lifting and tightening of the skin, also improved quality of skin. The procedure takes about an hour-two hours depending on the type of machine and with little to no downtime involved. If too much heat is tolerated/applied during the treatment, rare adverse effects such as destroying fat cells or "sagging" of the skin could be present. Thermage is not a more pain more gain type of procedure and if done properly should not cause these adverse effects as it is a very successful procedure for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity! I suggest seeing a provider near you that is experienced in both procedures. I hope this helps!
