Thermage and Venus Legacy - do they destroy fat cells?

When Thermage is done improperly and too much heat is added, there is a chance that some fat tissue can be destroyed. If your Thermage technician is well trained and experienced then the risk of this is nil. Thermage is a treatment that uses radio heat frequency to stimulate collagen in the skin, therefore your return on investment is not immediate, but about 4-6 months later! What we look for in those post procedure months to come is a lifting and tightening of the skin, also improved quality of skin. The procedure takes about an hour-two hours depending on the type of machine and with little to no downtime involved. If too much heat is tolerated/applied during the treatment, rare adverse effects such as destroying fat cells or "sagging" of the skin could be present. Thermage is not a more pain more gain type of procedure and if done properly should not cause these adverse effects as it is a very successful procedure for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity!
