How to soothe septoplasty congestion? How long will it take, it's only been a day since my surgery.

It's day one of my septoplasty and I feel so miserable and congested. I've used nasal saline sprays but it feels like nothings changed, in fact I feel even more congested as time goes by. Why is that? Will I have to breathe with my mouth open until this congestion goes away? Why are my sinuses clogged?

You may still have residual swelling intranasally and in the soft tissue. I would suggest Kenalog IIT, SwellX to reduce swelling, and an intranasal inspection prior to corrective surgery.Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles

You have residual swelling after surgery. Apply Plato's Scar Serum to the nose and massage. Take SwellX tablets to reduce swelling postop and wait for the swelling to subside. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles

Time will correct much of this anxiety. Nasal airflow can dry out your nose mucosa. Keep the area well hydrated with saline washes. SwellX tablets can help reduce postop swelling. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles
