I am loosing my hair due to some weight loss. This has happened before and it started to grow back but about 3 months ago i lost a lot again and the shedding recommenced. I have gained the weight back pretty quickly but I am worried i will never get the head of hair I had as a teenager ( I am only 20, though ). I am thinking of using minoxidil to try and speed up regrowth. I would potentially stop once I see my hair getting back to normal (if it is possible). Is this a good idea? Michelle

In my opinion Yes DHEA can be a cause for androgenic hair loss. You should consult an endocrinologist to evaluate the cause of the DHEAs and then you can receive proper treatment.
Losing between 80-100 strands of hair per day is normal. If you are losing me ore than normal number of hair per day, you need to see a hair restoration Specialist to find the cause and get the proper care.
