Would an implant to replace my extracted wisdom tooth be an option?

Hello!Molars are close to the location of the sinus and without an exam and x-ray it is difficult to say if an implant would be possible or not. A retainer, as your dentist is suggesting, will hold the tooth in place, but you'll have to continue to wear the retainer or the tooth will move again.Schedule a consultation with an experienced implant dentist and discuss whether or not an implant is a possibility given the location.Best of luck!

This is an interesting question. Typically molars drift forward, not backward. I would think this is a matter of occlusion (how your teeth interact when biting). I would have someone who fully understands occlusion have a look at your bite. Perhaps there is someone in your area that has attended the Dawson Academy which is a teaching institution that helps dentists gain a better understanding of occlusion.
