I am 14 months post-op and so frustrated with my hypertrophic scars. I've had steroid injections and they have helped a little. Will a 1540 Laser help?
Answer: Scars and 1540nm laser You need a pulsed dye laser (PDL) to address the erythema in the scar. I like to combine PDL with a fractionated laser and steroid injections if the scar is hypertrophic. To address your question, yes the 1540nm laser is an appropriate wavelength and can be used but I would recommend it be used in combination with a PDL to help with the redness. Best of luck!

Answer: 1540 Non ablative fraxel laser + IPL for Scars Hello,A combination of both IPL (intense pulsed light) and 1540 non-ablative fraxel laser will help soften the scars. The IPL is used to target the redness in the scars and the fraxel results in the break down of scar tissue, causing new tissue that is lighter in color and more even in texture to form in its place. New collagen develops, resulting in smoother looking skin. It can take anywhere from 5-10 treatments. We recommend that patients apply a topical growth factor post laser treatment which helps further promote collagen production and more effective healing. I recommend you see a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person consultation. Good Luck.

Answer: Yes, a fractionated laser like Lux 1540 will help Yes, adding laser treatments to the hypertrophic scars can help improve both texture and tone (color). Combining this with the steroid injections will probably give you the most benefit. The steroid will break down some of the "extra" collagen while the laser treatment will help new collagen form in a more "normal" looking distribution to soften the scar's appearance.

Answer: Surgical Scar Treatment We start with the ICON 1540 fractional nonablative laser. Multiple treatments at least 1 month apart will be needed to improve the appearance. We sometimes start as early as 2 weeks after surgery on a healthy healing scar.

Answer: 1540 for surgical scar We've had good results using non-ablative fractional therapy such as 1540 for post surgical scars. Often time, we combine the treatment with vascular lasers such as IPL or PDL as well as intralesional steroid injections to achieve the best outcome. Generally speaking, multiple treatment cycles are needed, at roughly 3 wks apart.
