Hair transplant with vitiligo - will I still be able to apply makeup?

This is a very thoughtful and important question, especially when vitiligo camouflage is part of your daily routine and sense of confidence.

After a hair transplant, the newly placed follicles are very delicate during the early healing phase. In the first 7–10 days, the grafts are not yet firmly anchored, and anything that adds friction, pressure, or occlusion—such as makeup, setting powder, or camouflage products—can interfere with proper healing. During this initial period, applying camouflage or powder to the transplanted area is not recommended, as particles can adhere to scabs, clog healing follicles, or increase the risk of irritation or folliculitis.

At that point, light, non-comedogenic camouflage products can usually be resumed with care. Application should be gentle (patting rather than rubbing), and brushes or sponges should be clean to reduce the risk of infection.

Importantly, makeup itself does not damage transplanted hair follicles long-term once healing is complete. The concern is strictly about the early postoperative window, when follicles are still vulnerable. After the skin barrier has recovered, using vitiligo camouflage and setting powder will not clog pores permanently or affect hair growth.
