Septoplasty, endoscopic nasal surgery, and tonsillectomy combo. Been couple weeks and still cannot smell anything at all?

Had the surgery on December 20th and splint removed last week. I still cannot smell anything at all and slowly am becoming depressed. I've been routinely cleaning and doing saline sprays. Is this normal?

Hi Aeirys,

At this time, you still have swelling, your nose may still be filled with a lot of mucous and old blood, which can prevent the also swollen nerve ending from contacting the stimulus for smelling, thus blocking the smelling mechanism. This should resolve with time.
