That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. In addition to finding the right surgeon you should look into the hospital and the rest of the medical team. Is the hospital accredited? Do they have modern facilities and supplies? Are the anesthesiologists licensed and accredited? Do they speak English well enough for you to communicate your concerns and needs?

Do your live in Ohio or D.R.?  Your email suggests Ohio.  You need to have your plastic surgeon available after surgery.  So if you live in the D.R., have surgery there.  But if you are in the U.S., stay here.  The cost savings are not worth it.  Complications do happen and follow-up care, including revisions, are frequently necessary. You can check the ASPS website to see if a plastic surgeon is a member.  There are many international members of this society.

         About 25% of my patients have had previous liposuction and Brazilian buttlifts.  I perform about 500 Brazilian buttlifts each year, and this procedure is the most surgeon dependent plastic surgery procedure.  Much of the grafting result depends upon the techniques utilized and the postoperative care.  Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of Brazilian buttlifts each year.  Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results.

When choosing a plastic surgeon, the most important thing to consider is that he or she is board certified, the experience with the procedure you are interested and that you feel comfortable in his/her hands.
In the Dominican Republic, we have excellent doctors, great professionals, and most importantly, board certified plastic surgeons, that you can choose from (search for members of the Dominican Society of Plastic Surgeons, SODOCIPRE).

If you live in the United States, I strongly urge you to select a plastic surgeon that is also based in the country and near you. Do not choose a surgeon based abroad because you will need them to be available to you after surgery, particularly if any complications arise.

The best way to vet a doctor is to research them on a platform such as RealSelf.com to ensure your doctor is a board-certified plastic surgeon and not a cosmetic surgeon. The difference in their education, training and expertise is vastly different. You also want to learn how many BBL procedures the doctor has performed in the past. I would also recommend reading their reviews and evaluating their gallery of before and after photography. Lastly, how you feel after meeting the doctor at your consultation is critical.  It is of upmost importance that you feel comfortable with the doctor you choose for your aesthetic journey.
