Is 21 too early for under eye fillers ?

Thank you for your question. 21 y.o is not too young to get fillers done. It is especially useful for the hollows and dark circles under the eye. Because fillers are added to the tear trough area you can add it in if you want and there are no adverse effects if you don't. It is definitely possible and probably that you will fall in love with the results and want to continue long term but there are no adverse effects if you plan not to continue.

Young people can genetically have tear trough hollows. If their appearance bothers you, fillers would be an appropriate treatment. Usually, the medial cheek needs to be treated first to give support to the area and then the tear trough is assessed to see if filler is needed there. This area should only be treated by an experienced physician to avoid any potential problems.

21 years old is not too early to get fillers for hollowness under your eyes. The good news is that hyaluronic acid fillers like Belotero can nicely fill in this hollow area correcting the appearance of dark circles. In addition the filler in this area can last several years so you won't need to repeat this treatment very often. We've had filler last 5 and even 10 years in this area with just a single treatments. If the dark circles are a result of genetics it is often a result of pigmentation. Pigmentation can oftentimes be lightened with topical creams and laser therapy.These procedures may give some improvement or no improvement at all.  If the area under the eyes is hollow than dermal fillers may help to improve the look.  Dermal fillers will not cause you to age faster. You are correct however that if they help than you will need to continue having dermal fillers to maintain the correction. You may want to consider a more permanent solution given your age. Fat transfer may be a better option for you.

You are correct that the majority of people who have dark circles under eyes acquired them genetically. There are two reasons as to why someone may have dark circles. Reason number one is that there is increased pigmentation in the area around the eyes resulting in the dark circle. Reason number two is hollowness in the lower eyelid area which makes the eye cast a shadow onto the cheek creating a dark circle. If your problem is related to the pigmentation, then you need to be seen by dermatologist and understand that fillers will not help but there are lasers and creams that may lighten the skin in the area. If on the other hand your dark circle is created by the hollowness beneath the eye, then I would recommend having a small amount of fat grafting to restore the fullness in the lower eyelid and cheek area and that will correct your problems permanently. You may get fillers after 18 y/o without parental consent.You are most definitely a candidate for fillers.Some fillers last longer than others. Start with a shorter term filler first, to make sure you like the look, then you can move into longer term fillers.Nothing is ever one and done, because our body continues to evolve over our life time.Remember to wear spf 30+  daily to your face, and sunglasses in the sun for additional protection!Best.
