The scientific data for the binding of botulinum toxin A (Botox, Dysport and Xeomin) is known to be complete within 2 hours. However, it can take up to 2 weeks for the complete relaxation of the muscle; therefore, microdermabrasion and/or chemical peels can be done the following day after a Botox treatment.
I usually suggest waiting 2 weeks before having a microdermabrasion, especially if you have never had Botox before. I see all of my new Botox patients after 2 wekks for follow up, and if a procedure is needed, such as a microdermabrasion, it could be done during this visit.
I would recommend you wait a minimum of 24 hours after Botox to have any kind of facial treatment. The reason is that you don't want excessive pushing or pressing in the treated areas, which happens during a microdermabrasion treatment. No worries. Microdermabrasion is safe and in fact a useful adjunct to your other acne treatments.
You should stop the tretinoin cream several days before microdermabrasion and tell the technician that you have been using it. Discuss her recommendations about post-treatment care. Once any redness or peeling from the microdermabrasion has resolved, you can resume the tretinoin...
