Soreness and pain in nose months after fracture. Should I get it checked out?

I'm sorry to hear about your assault. In most instances after trauma, when the bones and soft tissue heals, the pain diminishes. It is uncommon to have new onset pain 10 months after a injury. I would recommend seeing a local ENT facial plastic surgeon who can check out your nose and sinuses. Sometimes after injury to the septum and nasal pyramid, the sinuses can be blocked even more and can lead to increased sinus infections. The pain from sinus infections can be referred to the nose and should probably be evaluated. Best of luck

 Trauma to the nose can cause a fracture of the nasal bones, and a  deviated septum which creates breathing  obstruction out of the nose. A rhinoplasty can straighten the nasal bones with osteotomies  applied  to  narrow and straighten them. A septoplasty is performed  when there is cartilage and bone in the back of the nose that is blocking air flow. For more information, please see the link below

Dear Py196, I am very sorry to hear about your assault and hope you are recovering both physically and mentally from such a trauma. I would suggest having an examination done to check your breathing difficulties and determine any sources of pain. I know in the State of California where I practice that there are victim programs where the state will pay for surgery that is deemed necessary after an assault.
