Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a great detergent that foams up, emulsify, and cleans away dirt. It makes for a great ingredient in many shampoos. There is nothing wrong with SLS. It is cheap and it works great. In the modern holistic, organic, Whole-Foods culture, with the help of the advertising media, SLS is out of flavor for a natural (more expensive) alternative. To be fair, SLS is an irritant. That's why if you get shampoo in your eyes, it burns. It can be harsh on some types of skin/scalp. So in THEORY, you may hear doctors recommend shampoos that do not contain SLS.In PRACTICE, it really will not affect your hair grafts (unless you have some rare reaction to SLS). But you would have known this already assuming you've been washing your hair regularly since birth. NOTE: Popular "hair growth" or "hair health" shampoos such as Nizoral all have SLS as their ingredient. Finally, ask your doctor and follow your doctor's post operative instructions.
