I'm panicking. This just popped out of my mouth. My dental implant placement was on 6/30. I hadn't had any issues and today this came out. Is this my dental implant ?
Answer: Healing abutments can look scary Dental implants look similar to a device bought at Home Depot, and are threaded internally so other things can be affixed to them. To hold the gum tissues out of the way (for easier access to the implant) while the case is finished, a healing collar can be placed. You are holding the healing collar/abutment.See your dentist/surgeon ASAP. It is likely that by the time you get to their office, the gums will have grown over, so either it will be left alone to finish healing or a new abutment will be placed.

Answer: Healing abutment in hand! No worries my friend. What you have in your hand is the healing abutment for the implant. The actual implant is still where it should be. The part in your hand can simply be screwed back into the dental implant. With that being said, it is likely that the dentist will need to trim a tiny bit of gum tissue prior to replacing the abutment. Once the abutment falls out, which can sometimes happen, the gums tend to grow very fast into the abutment space. If this has already happened, a tiny bit of anesthetic and removal of a small amount of gum tissue will allow the abutment to be reseated back onto the dental implant.

Answer: Don't panic you didn't lose your dental implant Based on your picture, your dental implant did not fall out. This is screw that is placed into your implant while your implant is healing. Call your dentist and they will simply screw it back in. Good luck!

Answer: You're Good - It's Not Your Implant No doubt that was a shock! But there is no need to worry, it wasn't your implant that fell out, it's what we call a healing abutment. I suggest calling your dentist and have them place it back on your implant before your gum grows over it.
