Bad experience - my lips are super bumpy

Bad experience… I was looking for a new Botox place because I recently moved to the west side from Calabasas. I saw this place had good reviews so I wanted to try it. They had a Botox bank deal for $1500 - 100 units at $15/unit of Botox and you get a free syringe of filler. I always wanted to try filler so I just decided to go with it. I got about 60 units of Botox in my forehead and jaw (...

Corrected serious deformity of my nose tip after a primary rhinoplasty

I went to Dr. Rivkin with the hopes of correcting some serious deformity of my nose tip after a primary rhinoplasty. I worked with several providers before him but thought it was serious time to go to someone who specialized in this procedure. Dr Rivkin was wonderful to work with and did a beautiful job on my nose. The only downside is that I am on the east coast and he is on the west and...

Non-surgical Nose Job Great Experience!

I love the results! Very nice and comfortable office with a cute and friendly poochy making everyone feel comfortable. Staff is friendly and professional. Very brief waiting time, asked me what type of music I liked and I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. Dr. Rivkin was professional and had a very good eye for what I needed. The procedure was painless lasting maybe 20 minutes total...

The Best Doctor for Perfectionists!

I initially went to see Dr. Rivkin for the under-eye circles I have been fighting my entire life. Every day people would ask if I was tired, even when I felt great and rested!! Finally I had fillers injected and was amazed at what a difference it made! The minute I walked out of the practice I felt reborn. No bruising, swelling, nothing! Nothing to hint at the 'procedure' at all. Twenty years...

Q: Is it normal for filler to cause broken capillaries around my nose?
Answered by Dr. RivkinJune 20, 2019

A: Hello and thank you for your question.  Injections in the nose can cause long-term redness and broken capillaries due to the inflammation and bruising that can occur.  This phenomenon is your body's way of healing itself and is very normal.  There are many lasers that can help reduce these new mico vessels that are formed. Lasers such as Yag, IPL, Excel V and V-beam are all great treatments for redness, flushing, broken capillaries and more.  Be sure to seek an experienced practitioner who specializes in facial aesthetics for best results and guidance.  Good luck!

Q: Is there a difference between how deep voluma vs. Radiesse is injected in the temples?
Answered by Dr. RivkinJune 20, 2019

A: Hello and thank you for your question.  Fillers used in the temples are usually injected deeper whether it is Radiesse or Voluma.  In the cheeks, however, fillers can be injected into different planes depending on what is used.

Radiesse is a calcium based filler that is white in color and more of a paste-like consistency.  That being said, it is best when injected deep, right onto bone, in areas like the temples or zygoma.  Voluma, on the other hand, is a hyaluronic acid based filler with a gel-like consistency and can be injected deep onto bone or sub-dermally.  Both of these fillers are meant for volume replacement and are thicker in consistency which means superficial injections are not recommended.

Both are great fillers for creating a natural look.  Be sure you are seeking an experienced injector who specializes in facial aesthetics for best results and guidance.  Good luck!

Q: Possible to eliminate weird shadow formed by under-lip fat pockets? (photos)
Answered by Dr. RivkinMay 31, 2019

A: Hello and thank you for your question.  With the help of fillers you can minimize the shadow cast by these protruding pockets just under your lower lip.  Fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, or Radiesse can be injected just under these pockets and in the mental crease of your chin to create a smoother transition from your lower lip to your chin.  Be sure to seek an experienced injector who specializes in facial aesthetics for best results. Good luck!

Q: What's the best solution for my marionette lines? (photo)
Answered by Dr. RivkinMay 30, 2019

A: Hello and thank you for your question.  You seem to be a great candidate for a combination treatment of filler and Botox in the marionettes.  With fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane can help to fill in those deep creases by the corners of the mouth.  When placed strategically and precisely, the corners of the mouth can also be turned upward to give a more youthful look.  Additionally, a couple units of Botox in the depressor anguli oris muscles (those muscles which are responsible for drawing the corners of the mouth downward) can also be helpful.  Be sure to seek an experienced injector who specializes in facial aesthetics for best results.

Q: Should I be worried if I have swelling 2 days after Botox? (photo)
Answered by Dr. RivkinMay 28, 2019

A: Hello and thank you for your question.  Swelling after Botox is only normal for about 15 min to a couple hours after the injections. This particular swelling may be due to what product they used to reconstitute their Botox.  It seems that water may have been used instead of normal saline.  If this is the case, there is no harm done,  it will just take longer for the fluid to be absorbed by your body.  Regardless, you should have your injector take a look as soon as possible.
