I've recently been really hating my double chin. Not that I've previously been in love with it, but it seems to be worse and more saggy lately, so I decided to do something about it. I'm a post gastric bypass patient. I had my bypass in 2002, so it's been 16 years. I've kept much of the weight off, but I am fairly chubby at this point. (I lost 248, and I'm still about 200 pounds down, so yeah, I've gained some back over time). My chin tightened up pretty well with the initial weight loss, but not all the way and I guess my age is taking a toll. I'll be 50 at the end of the month. I'm starting to consider a face lift and/or chin lipo but thought I would try Coolsculpt first. I was told that it was recently approved by the FDA for skin tightening as well as fat destruction, so I thought it would be a good idea since I do have extra skin from the weight loss on my neck. I decided on 4 cycles total. 2 in one treatment and 2 in the next, 30 days later. The little applicator was applied to one side for 45 minutes and then the other side for 45 minutes. They applied a gel prior to latching them on. It initially just creates suction, which wasn't a big deal. It didn't hurt. Then it starts to get cold, and gets increasingly colder for about 10 minutes. The cold is uncomfortable. I wouldn't call it really painful but it wasn't pleasant. I think the worse thing is the cold headache that is created by that cold happening so close to your brain/brain stem. It wasn't like an ice cream headache, but more like a super tension headache. It calmed down after a while, but it was yucky and I didn't enjoy it. After about 10-15 minutes, the area goes numb and there is little to no sensation at all. The procedure, while not a ton of fun, wasn't that big of a deal. I have no qualms about going back for my second session. Afterward, I had redness and a sort of series of very small "pinch points" or little bitty hickeys (couldn't be interpreted as being created by a person, definitely mechanical) across my throat. I thought my husband would question them but he didn't. (He doesn't know I went in for Coolsculpt). After the primary numbness wore off, it was sore. It felt sort of numb and sore at the same time. It was swollen, but not in an obvious way - more like it just got fatter. My neck just sort of completely disappeared from the swelling - just an ugly sort of "straight down" chin. Ugh. It's a week later and I don't see anything happening yet, except for the swelling has gone down a lot. I was told to not expect the swelling to go away until about the 14th day, and results maybe at 3-4 weeks, but results are much more obvious at the 3 month mark. At this point, I'm just grateful that the swelling is going down. It's not gone yet but every little millimeter is greatly appreciated. It's still a little sore to the touch, but it's faint. The jury is still out about whether or not I think this has been worth the time in money. Overall, the procedure wasn't bad, but it was pretty expensive. I'll update with pictures as time goes on. Let's all hope that it works, because when hubs finds out I shelled out $2,500 for this, there better be results or I'm going to be in the doghouse.
I been wanting to get this done for a very long time. Finally now that I'm older I'm ready to do it. My reason is Bc baggy eyes and dark circles run in my family and w me it was already getting bad. Makes me looks tired and much older Hopefully this will be a worth it.
