A few years ago I went and got an estimate for submental Lipo and it was $3800 and he told me that I probably really need a facelift. Last year I had a virtual consultation at Elite for their Airsculpting and their estimate was $5000 and they said I might need a neck tightening procedure afterwards. I also went to Sono Bello and she said she could make me look great for $4000. Then a few months ago I got another estimate for $3800.A week later I was browsing the web looking for out of town prices and I found Orange County liposuction Centers $899 per area with a minimum of 2 areas. I read up on Smart Lipo and I liked that it has better results and a much faster recovery time and the procedure tightens your skin. I decided to fly down to John Wayne Airport for one day for an in person consultation because the plane ticket was only $20 each way (Spirit Airlines) and with tax that was $70 round trip and airport parking is another $12.My skin isn't loose or wrinkly but my double chin hangs down and I have small jowls. I am sure with all of that gone I could look between 5 to 10 years younger. I met with a nurse to talk about what areas I want and than Dr. Mitchell Cohen came in to talk to me. He told me I have great skin that should tighten very well. He explained that the first part would be little needle pricks but after that nothing else hurts. (That part was much less painful than the dentist.)Then he would poke three tiny holes two below my ears and one underneath my chin. He said they are so small you can't even use one stitch to close them. Then he will fill my entire chin area with a liquid that has a bunch of lidocaine in it and I wont feel anything after that except some poking around. This is called Tumescent Lipo and it is the safest. After the area is filled he uses a laser to kill the fat cells and then he liposuctions the whole area. Then he goes through the whole area again and along the entire jawline with a laser and that tightens everything up.He told me I would look great and that I have great skin. I liked Dr. Mitchell Cohen a lot and I really wanted him to do my surgery. He has a very friendly very enthusiastic personality and seemed eager to do this. It costs $250 more per area if you BMI is over 25 and my BMI was 26 so they wrote up the estimate and two areas at $899 plus $250 per area for my BMI and $80 for a compression garment and $150 for the Covid 19 test all added up to about $2550.If I paid in 24 hours they would have taken $250 off of the total price. I paid the whole thing two weeks later and scheduled my appointment for October 6th 2021. I ran out the door the next morning and did my blood tests and EKG and everything was 100% covered by insurance. My three prescriptions at Walmart totaled about $16.50 and then there were two more over the counter pills I had to get that both has cheap generic Walmart alternatives. The expensive part was finding a hotel and flight.I arrived the day before and gave myself two nights to recover because I had to drive home from the airport and I wasn't sure. I would have left the morning after if I had to do it all over again because I wasn't in any pain and I could very easily drive the next day, but I didn't know. I did the procedure on Wednesday afternoon and it is Friday night and I still haven't felt any pain or significant soreness yet.I have to wear the compression garment for 72 hours before I take it off but I did take it off a few times to peek and it looks awesome! I have a few bruises under the compression garment but absolute the worst looking bruising is along my lower neck which he didn't do lipo on. There is a big blood red striped bruise all of the way across from sleeping elevated and walking around I guess. Gravity I assume? I will update tomorrow with pictures. I am so thrilled that I did this!! I look so much younger already and the procedure was super easy! Dr. Mitchell Cohen RULES!! Updated on 10 Oct 2021: I did my 72 hours strapped in and everything was looking great so I took a long shower in the morning and a long shower in the evening and I wore the head strap that the Doctor recommended I buy on Amazon. It left a tiny little pooch that wasn't there with the big head strap so I think I will go back to wearing the big one with the maxi pad for extra push. I am hoping to make my skin heal tight against my muscle. Some of this might be swelling. The bruising isn't painful at all and I just started Arnica Cream today. The wrinkly part is the maxi pad or cotton pads that were used for drainage and now are for extra push. (Like if you fall asleep on someone's corduroy couch and then wake up with the stripe pattern on your face.) Those are not actual wrinkles. The drainage only lasted for two days and wasn't very much. The first two days my skin was super tight up against my jaw but now things are either relaxing or swelling. It still looks pretty great. I haven't felt any pain or discomfort yet. The scariest part of the procedure was wondering how much this is going to hurt when the pain killers wear off. It has been four days and it hasn't hurt at all!! It looks pretty bruised up but that's not a problem.
I met Dr. Mirzania from Orange County Liposuction Center a year ago when he performed an amazing 360 Smartlipo procedure on me which yielded fantastic results. (Please see my previous review!) It’s been a year and I was wishing to have an even flatter tummy because of an upcoming beach vacation. I of course consulted with Dr. Mirzania and he recommended a full tummy tuck. I was concerned about the pain factor and he reassured me that I would feel nothing during the procedure and that the pain afterward would be very manageable. Dr. Mirzania has my complete trust so I scheduled a date. The front office was great from the start. They kept in contact with me and answered any questions I had. They helped me find the cheapest blood lab available as I had to pay out of pocket for my bloodwork. I was very nervous the day of the procedure, but Dr. Mirzania was very kind and patient with me. He talked me through each step. Well, I did not feel a thing…in fact, I slept through it. I was told I probably would, and I didn’t believe them! After the medication wore off, the pain was similar to the 360 SmartLipo…completely manageable just as he said. Dr. Mirzania called me the next day to check in and all was well. A week later I went in for a follow up and to have the drain removed. (The drain was the most inconvenient aspect of the entire experience. It was needed, but ugh. Ladies, wear long, flowy dresses until you are allowed to have it removed!) I was told to continually wear the compression garment and wear it tight; follow through with this or you won’t heal as “tight” as you want to be! Also, do not pick anything remotely heavy up or it will strain your stitches and you might undo all of the doctor’s (and your!) hard work. I was feeling awesome at two weeks and was an idiot…I tried to help my mom move a tree. I totally felt something snap inside. I freaked out. Dr. Mirzania met with me right away. I did in fact snap a stitch inside and have the tiniest ripple on my tummy. No one would ever see it, but I know it’s there. I was so angry with myself. Dr. Mirzania was incredibly patient and kind to me (I would have been upset with me if the tables were turned!) I am healing well and am so excited for my vacation. It’s my 25th wedding anniversary and I’m thrilled that my belly now looks as good as it did when I first got married at 20. Of course, now I want to fix my arms…my back fat….LOL All that said, I would go to Dr. Mirzania without any hesitation. He is a kind, caring, compassionate, patient man who is amazingly gifted in his craft. I truly cannot recommend him more highly.
Dr Cohen was awesome, could not have been better! Would I do it over again? Probably not. I’ve had a lower tummy protrusion my entire life but due to a $500 non- refundable deposit, I ended up getting my flanks and hips done instead. I wanted to back out but didn’t want to lose deposit and the tummy would have cost much more. My flanks are literally the LAST place I gain weight on my body and I didn’t seek lipo for this area. Hips sure I guess but I will also say that the weight immediately went to a protruding rear and a fat pad on upper butt. Not in a year. Not in six months- immediately. I lost not one single pound, in fact I gained, despite efforts. The immediate before and after pics are something however lighting and angles must be considered. I look at my giant belly every day and am sad. I have little lipo scars for nothing. I have large boobs and a big stomach so still have to wear, actually I have to MAKE my own large shirts still. Disappointed, mad at myself.
