This is my 2nd experience with Halo. I had it done a year and a half ago at a different clinic. Unfortunately, I have really thick, healthy skin, that requires a very high setting for the Halo to work, and my first attempt produced no results. My practioner followed up with profractional a few weeks later, and I was happier with my results at that point. I still had a lot of large pores on my nose and across my T zone that bothered me. Skin pen, peels, and retinols did nothing to correct it. I am now 41 and the lines under my eyes are the only thing that gives away my age. I have started using Forma specifically for my under eyes, and have been happy with my results (you can find my review for Forma with Bioage Health on my profile). I have had botox treatment with Dr Garrett Griffen of Midwest Facial Plastic surgery over the last 6 years and he is amazing. I prefer seeing a doctor for injections versus a nurse and Dr Griffen always takes his time with me. He asks every time if I have any concerns. He has removed a mole from my face that really cleaned up my complexion and once even removed a growth from my eyelid for free. I have sent many of my friends his way and they all appreciate his care as well. I was hesitant to try Halo again after not getting any results the last time but Kari Jo has 11 years of expert experience with lasers and she assured me that she was confident that she could get the results I was looking for. She used double the settings the former esthi did and she also used a little micro laser peel to address my enlarged pores as well as BBL for broken capillaries around my nose. Her care was next level. You can tell she is a true professional with a passion for work. She took the time to explain to me what she was doing evey step of the way and why she was doing it. I was afraid the procedure would be more painful with the higher settings, but honestly, it hurt less than the first time. I believe that is the difference between being treated by someone with a wealth of experience with this technology. My first round my face never swelled or peeled. This time, my face was red like a sunburn as soon as I left and was already starting to swell. It was slightly uncomfortable, but I was able to drive myself home 30 minutes just fine. I went home and took 800 mg of ibuprofen and used a face ice mask and cold roller on my face in-between cold rags soaked in vinegar to take the heat out. I slept fine that night. When I woke up the next morning, my face felt tight and full. When I looked in the mirror, I was shocked. I hardly recognized myself but I was ecstatic because I knew that meant it was working. I used a silver ointment on the most raw parts and cicalfate cream on the rest. I continued with the cold rags and ice. The 3rd day, I was still very swollen and my mends came out. I knew that meant the discoloration from sun damage was working it's way up and out. This also did not happen for me the first time. I had to go back to work on day 3, and I have never been happier to have to wear a mask. I was worried the mask would rub on my scabbed skin, but as long as I didn't talk too much, it was fine. When I got home that night, my face was very swollen from being on my feet for too long. I took a bath and went to bed early. By day 4, most of the swelling was gone. My face was peeling and the mends had turned to sandpaper. I washed my face with a gentle cleanser and most of the peeling skin came off. By day 5, my skin was just slightly red under my eyes where she focused the micro laser peel. I was pumped because the new skin coming in was glowing!! The pores on my nose were hardly visible and some fine lines already seemed to be disappearing around my eyes and mouth area. I didn't feel self-conscious to be in public at all at this point. It's now day 6 and my results continue to get better and better. My skin texture is still like linen, which Kari Jo said was normal for up to 12 weeks. I had some broken blood vessels around my nose that are 75% reduced in color. I consider that a bonus as I did not realize that could be a result. Overall, my complexion is much more even and my skin is glowing!! I know I still have a ways to go to see the final results, but I am already thrilled. I can not thank Kari Jo enough for taking such good care of me! She text me the first three days just to check in with me and see if I had any questions or concerns she could assist me with. I have already gave all of my friends her information so they too can get these kinds of results. My biggest take away from this experience is that it is so important to find someone with a lot of experience who is confident in their abilities when undergoing a procedure that costs over $1000. It is a lot to invest in one procedure, but it is hands down the most dramatic results I have experienced on my face and will gladly continue to make the investment biannually to keep up the results. Thanks to Midwest Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Griffen and Kari Jo for the excellent care, I couldn't be happier!! Updated on 21 Jan 2021: I could not be happier with my results! For the minimal discomfort I experienced 4 days post Halo, I am here to report that it was worth it! My skin is baby soft, my fine lines are dismissed, my breakouts completely cleared out, my pores are smaller, and my broke capillaries are significantly reduce! I have attached a before and after progression photo collage. Everyone keeps commenting on my glowing skin! I highly recommend finding someone who has a lot of experience with this laser. It is a game changer in anti aging!! Worth every penny. Updated on 12 Feb 2021: My skin is absolutely glowing!! This procedure has taken at least a decade off my complexion! The only makeup I wear now is eye shadow and a little blush. No need for concealer, just a little mineral sunscreen, and I'm ready to go! I will definitely be doing my decollatage next!
