Dr. Sylora did my full tummy tuck and liposuction. She is an amazing surgeon, and I have received exceptional results. If you want perfection this is where you need to go. Dr. Sylora as well as her office staff are very kind and professional. I highly recommend Dr. Sylora and Institute of Aesthetic Surgery.
47 yr old Mom 100 lb weight loss Tummy Tuck-Extended with Lipo Flanks Now it's time to get my sexy body back! I have been on this site since 3/30/15 reading all the Tummy Tuck Reviews and I have to say all the information has helped me immensely! I work in Surgery at one of the largest hospitals in Orlando, FL so it was rather strange being the patient on the operating room table. I researched many plastic surgeons in the Orlando area and I finally chose Dr Roxanne Sylora of Institute of Aesthetic Surgery at Florida Hospital Celebration, FL. I went in on 3/30/15 for my consultation. She was so wonderful. I had a list of questions and she answered them all in a very caring way. She was very honest and realistic. I went ahead and paid my deposit and booked my Tummy Tuck- Extended with Lipo-Flanks for 4/16/15. I was shocked to receive a really thick booklet with tons of instructions for pre and post op. There was a list of what vitamins and over the counter medications to avoid before surgery. I was instructed to start Arnica (for bruising and swelling), vitamin C and vitamin K I had a list of questions for the doctor and she answered them honestly but with caring. communication is so important with your doctor. I stressed how important is was to me that she made my incision low so I would be able to wear a low cut bikini without showing my scar. Don't be afraid to tell your doctor how you feel. I read on this site about how some women became depressed after the surgery and if the had made the right decision but I haven't experienced any of those problems. I had my Tummy Tuck-Extended with Lipo-Flanks on 4/16/15. I wanted so badly to post my experience right away but I kept contemplating. I wanted to do this review to help other women who were thinking of having this procedure. I wasn't nervous at all until I was headed to the operating room. The procedure took a total of three and a half hours. I couldn't believe I was actually able to stand by myself! Everything went perfectly. It was really strange seeing the drain coming out of me, one on each side. Thank goodness I started wearing my garment two weeks before my surgery! It became like my second skin. I see blood and tissue everyday at work and it never made me feel nauseated but it just freaked me out when it was my body. It took me about a week and a half to stand up straight but that is normal because of the tightening of the skin and your abdominal muscles. The pain felt like I had done a million crunches or if I had broken my ribs. I always kept a firm pillow next to me just in case I had to cough or sneeze or laugh because you felt the pain in your abs. I cannot stress how important it is for someone to take care of you for the first week. My fiancé took the time off from work to care for me and I thank God he did. He helped me drain my tubes twice a day and milk them plus log the info for my doctor. He kept a log of all my medications and helped me take a shower because of my drains. I was so blessed that my sister who is a Registered Nurse was always checking on me and making sure I was doing well. I was instructed to wear my garment for 24 hrs a day and only remove it when taking a shower each day. I also hand washed it at that time. I couldn't wait to have my drains removed. It was challenging to find an outfit to hide my drains but I was creative. You can hide them using a fanny pack or I would put each one in my pockets of my denim shorts with a large tank top. I had one drain removed after two weeks and the second one removed a few days later. I was surprised that I did t feel a thing. Every time I touched my stomach, it felt like rubber and as if I was touching someone else's flesh but I was told that was normal but cause of the healing process with your nerve endings. Whatever you do, don't rush the drain removal process because about about my third week I started noticing that my stomach was looking sort of disfigured with the swelling after I removed my garment to take a shower. I went to see the doctor the very next day and she ended up removing fluid from my abdomen using a needle with a syringe. I really didn't feel any pain but I felt much less bloated. I cried when I first saw my abs in the mirror for the first time I removed my garment. It was beautiful and flat! I worked out at the gym consistently before my procedure but no matter what an exercises I did, that excess flab was there. I had like two stomachs before surgery due to my 100 lb weight loss from the past two years. Some people would tell me "oh you are so beautiful, you don't need to do that procedure" but they don't see you when you are naked. I was tired of my clothes not fitting me correctly and trying to hide my stomach with certain outfits. For once, I wanted to wear a tight cute sexy dress or a tank top but I never could. My doctor instructed me to make sure I purchased a laxative that was also a stool softener. Thank goodness I did because constipation is a side effect of the antibiotic I was taking along with the pain pills. I felt like I was going to blow up. It took me about three days. Drinking lots of water helped immensely. I had no appetite so I kept crackers near my bedside and ate mini meals to keep me going. I always made sure I walked around a little bit to make it easier to get back to normal. After three weeks now, I feel wonderful. During the daytime I seem to have more energy but you have to be careful not to do too much because you will feel it in the evening. I seem to swell more in the evening. I was told no lifting, house chores, vacuuming or exercising because you have to allow your body to heal. Sleeping was rough in the beginning because I'm a side sleeper and I had to first sleep in a reclining position. I had tons of pillows including a reclining pillow that I picked up at Walmart. That helped so much. Make sure you take the time to rest. Don't be in a hurry to go back to work. I'm taking a full 8 weeks because I work 10 hour shifts and some of my surgical trays are super heavy. Whatever you do, don't penny pinch when it comes to plastic surgery. You get what you pay for. This is an investment in yourself. The price is just as much as buying an automobile. But remember maintenance is also just as important. I cannot wait for getting back to the gym because now when I do my an exercise I will be able to see my results and have that beautiful six pack. I even purchased my first sexy bikini from Victoria's Secret I will be posting more updates as the months go by so I can at least share my experience. Updated on 20 May 2015: Well today is about five weeks post surgery. I'm feeling wonderful and getting stronger everyday. I went to see my PS today for a follow up. She was so caring and really took the time to listen to my concerns. I showed her my swelling on my right side of my abdomen just above my low incision. She felt a small amount of fluid which she removed with a syringe. I hope this is the end of the fluid build up. I am dying to get back to the gym so I can start seeing nicer results but I know I have to start off slowly. I'm definitely going to start with walking on the treadmill or the stationary bike. I am patient win my swelling because I understand that will go up and down for several months but it's worth waiting for. I am definitely happy with my Tummy Tuck so far. I can't stop reading everyone's reviews on their TT so I am not alone on how I'm feeling. Everyone heals differently. I'm glad I took 8 weeks off from work since my job is so strenuous in the surgery department at my hospital. My body will probably go in to shock standing for 10 hrs a day. But I will have to move at my own pace, which means very slowly at first. I'm constantly drinking water and more water. I finally bought some Spanks this week so I can sleep in them and wear my compression garment during the day. I wanted the Spanks to wear under my hospital scrubs. They are extra firm and feel incredible. Oh and I just made an appointment at my PS's office for a Lymphatic Massage for next Tuesday morning since I was told it would help the area of my flanks where I had the Lipo at. I was curious if anyone has had this type of massage before and what where their results? Was it very painful? Well time to get some rest. Goodnight Ladies! Updated on 31 May 2015: Well I finally wore my Victoria's Secret Bikini! As you can see from these new photos that I'm still swelling up on my abdomen and my upper thighs. But I have my good and bad days with swelling but I'm much more happy not having to see all that extra skin hanging from my stomach. I really enjoyed having my first Lymphatic Massage. She showed me how to massage myself and what stretching exercises I should be doing. I pre-booked the next three sessions. Ladies don't give up. Each day you will get stronger and you will start to see a more beautiful you! Updated on 3 Jun 2015: Well I finally going back to the gym for the past two days. My PS advised me to start off slowly like cardio such as the treadmill and the stationary bike. She warned me that I will probably see an increase in swelling after the workout session. Thank goodness I had my compression garment on because I really think that helped keep my swelling down. She said I could start on weights and ab exercises next week but to start slow with light weights. I have to build up my strength because I return back to work at my hospital on June 15th. I deal with extremely heavy surgical trays. I'm anxious to get back to work and feel normal again. but what is normal? LOL I just love reading everyone's reviews. I'm still learning. All these ladies are sweet and caring! Talk to you lovely ladies soon! Updated on 29 Jun 2015: Well all I can say is Wow! I am so thrilled with my results so far. I have been working so many hours of overtime that I hardly get to get online. The swelling has gone down so much but because I am working over 10 hrs a day on my feet, I have swelling in the evening especially in my upper thighs. I cannot live without my waist clinchers and Spanx. My scar has gotten so thin that aim in shock. The scar guard has helped a great deal but I still use the Mederma, vitamin E oil, cocoa butter and Bio Oil. Ladies don't give up, it is definitely worth it! The leather outfit I have on is from Victoria's Secret and I never thought I could fit into one. I cried when I saw myself in the mirror. Keep the faith and God Bless! Updated on 26 Jul 2015: Well I can't believe it's been three months post op. I feel absutely fantastic! This is my new recent bikini pic. No more hiding my stomach. Ladies don't give up the faith. The surgery is worth every penny. Take your time finding the right surgeon. I have been so busy so I haven't been able to post any updates. I was thrilled to be asked by my gym at work to be a model for them. I had so much fun at the photo shoot! Life is getting better!
I had a RNY gastric bypass in 2011 and lost over 100 lbs which left my body with a lot of saggy skin; especially the breast area. Dr. Sylora was not the first surgeon that I consulted with however she was the last as she was the only one that I felt comfortable enough with to move forward with this surgery. In addition to the augmentation and lift I also had bilateral tummy tuck - total cost for all procedures was $14,295. Besides being absolutely thrilled with the results, I was very impressed with the follow-up care. Dr. Sylora and staff were always available to me post-op; their responsiveness surprised me as I had never had this level of follow-up care before. I highly recommend Dr. Sylora for any post-bariatric patient as she recognizes that major weight loss after post-bariatric surgery is not the same as a non-bariatric patient who is requesting the same surgery. The entire staff at the Institute for Aesthetic Surgery in Celebration were spot on, professional, and made me very comfortable to be there.
