Q: I'm hoping Smart Lipo will help mother’s apron? (Photos)
Answered by Dr. HartmanDecember 15, 2019

A: You're not alone, many women suffer looseness of the tummy area following pregnancies or weight loss.  In your case, from the belly button up - you look good!  A liposculpting procedure could certainly give you an improvement - you very well might even see some tightening of the skin in that lower tummy area after lipo simple from the action of the  lipocannula on the dermis under the skin.  You might even decide you would like the living fat transferred back to breasts/butt/face to rejuvenate/lift those areas. It all depends on what you are going for...if you wanted an optimal improvement, a simple tummy tuck would most likely improve you results enough to justify the additional expense and recovery time - especially if you already have a c-section type scar above your pubis.  There are a multitude of non-invasive devices to consider as well - including the newest technology - EMsculpt which builds abs muscles by an average of 23%/cuts fat by and average of 27%/approximates diastasis by 11% with 6 easy treatments.

Q: How can I avoid Botox side effects?
Answered by Dr. HartmanDecember 24, 2017

A: The very most important consideration when having any cosmetic injection is:  the experience, talent and credentials of the injector.  In particular, it is critical that the injector thoroughly understand the muscular anatomy of the face; the injector should be able to "see through the skin" knowing exactly what lies beneath, especially when injecting around the eyes.  A board-certified facial plastic surgeon is trained for 5 years in head & neck surgery followed by a second board certification in the anatomy and technique of plastic & reconstructive surgery of only the face and neck.  Unwanted side effects in cosmetic injections are mostly a consequence of lack of technique on the part of the injector. Fortunately, unwanted side effects of Botox are uncommon and rarely last more than a few weeks. Best advice is to choose your injector carefully.

Q: How much does Botox cost?
Answered by Dr. HartmanDecember 24, 2017

A: Botox is most generally requested for softening of the "angry 11's", the horizontal "washboard" forehead lines, and "crow's" feet at the outer corners of the eyes.  Beautifying results can be achieved in females for $350-$600 depending on the extent of the treatment. Add 25% or more for males - as generally the bulk of the muscles to be treated will be greater.

Q: What Areas of the Face Can Botox Be Injected?
Answered by Dr. HartmanDecember 24, 2017

A: Where is the face can Botox be used to enhance facial appearance?

Botox has great value when used to enhance facial appearance by placing precise amounts into the very muscles that cause facial wrinkles or facial distortions:

1) To soften "angry 11's" the vertical frown lines between the eyebrows

2) To reduce "washboard forehead" horizontal forehead lines

3) To soften "crow's feet" smile lines at the outer corners of the eyes.

Other popular uses include:

4) Providing a small lift to the eyebrows by weakening the muscles that pull the brow down

5) Relaxing the vertical "neck bands"

6) Softening the "bunny lines" at the top of the nose

Areas for use that Botox should be used w/ precaution:

7)  Softening the so-called "smoker's lines" of the upper lip; use here may result in temporary undesired impairment of the lip function

8) Reduction a "gummy smile" where the upper lip pulls up excessively with smiling; see precaution for 7)

9) Reduction of a nasal tip droop; see also precaution for 7)

10) Reduction of muscle bulk of the jawline; may result in temporary undesirable weakening of the chewing function

Q: How Long Before Botox Results Can Be Seen?
Answered by Dr. HartmanDecember 24, 2017

A: A simple "rule of 3s" can be used Botox:

3 days until the effects begin to show

3 weeks until the full effect is in place

3 months until the effects start to wear off

Of course there are patient-to-patient variances depending on the skill of the injector, the dosage used, and the physiologic characteristics of the particular patient.
