11 months post-op breast augmentation & couldn’t be happier with results!

I went to Dr. Shenker for a breast augmentation and couldn’t be happier with the results! I grew to trust him very quickly and his thoughts and comments were both helpful and very insightful. My results were the best they could have been because of his expertise and experience. His office is a trusting and accepting environment, and they made me feel valued and valid when I was at my most vulnerable. His staff were also incredibly polite and professional. This was not my first surgical procedure but was by far my best experience. I would recommend him to anyone and will definitely be returning. 10/10, would go under again.

Dr.Shenker is fantastic!

At age 26, after many years of thought, I continued to do some research on plastic surgeons and I decided to meet with Dr.Shenker for my free consultation, at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic located in Waterloo, Ontario. The second I met with him I felt so comfortable and confident with my decision. Not to mention the clinic itself is absolutely stunning, in this beautiful historic home. He was so excited for me and ecstatic to perform the procedure on me. He mentioned that I was the perfect candidate, and I couldn't have agreed more. He was very knowledgeable, and very informative. Dr.Shenker listened to me, he listened to my goals, he cared, he expressed his passion and he really showed that he absolutely loves what he does. His staff is incredible, from reception to his coordinator(Janene), to his patient staff. His team is very friendly, supportive, and caring. Once I scheduled my appointment, I paid my deposit, and I was provided with complementary anti-bacterial soap to prepare for the day of the surgery, and bruising pills to begin taking two days prior to the surgery. Dr.Shenker was very caring and supportive the day of my surgery, as I was completely terrified! He sat down with me and had a quick conversation of what is going to happen, and what to expect, and to go over any final questions or concerns I may have. He made me feel calm, relaxed, and excited at the same time! His nursing staff were extremely friendly, I could feel their care for me. It was such a positive environment. He even put Drake on for me while I began to fall asleep from the anesthesia! After my surgery, I was pretty swollen and experiencing some pain. I think the worst part was the bandeau that was wrapped around me to keep the implants in place. It was super, super tight, almost suffocating. I was taking my T3s, which helped a lot, however I began to feel a little off. After day 3 post-op I decided to stop taking my pain meds and realized that I didn't need them anyways! I was in a bit of pain but nothing major. It was more just awkward and uncomfortable. I was back to work within 5 days and I was feeling fine. I could drive, dress myself, do my hair, shower, do my makeup, etc... 2 days post-op I met with Laura for my follow up, she was amazed at how well I was healing and was also super excited for me. She was incredibly supportive and friendly. Laura is full of enthusiasm and very reinforcing. She was always quick to respond to my emails, no matter the time of day. I am extremely pleased with the results, and how my breasts look. My breasts look very natural, and fit my body perfectly, as that was the exact look I was hoping for. I cannot stop looking at myself in the mirror! I hope this story helped! If you are interested in breast augmentation, without a doubt I would highly recommend The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic with Dr.Shenker.

Tummy Tuck Success: Should Have Done It Long Ago

I recently had a tummy tuck after years of contemplating it. Now 6 months into my recovery, I am wishing I had done it years ago. I first visited Dr. Shenkar at the Waterloo Cosmetic Clinic in Feb of 2015 for a consultation. In addition to Dr. Shenkar I also visited another surgeon in town. Upon visiting with Dr. Shenkar and his staff, I immediately felt comfortable and knew at the point of making my decision, it would be his practice that would complete my surgery. During my first visit he explained the entire procedure including the all of the risks. My biggest concern with the tummy tuck was the resulting scar. Dr. Shenkar assured me that his patients generally dont have issue with the scar compared to the results seen. It took me 4 more visits over the course of the year to address all of my questions and anxiety over the tummy tuck, and for every visit, Dr. Shenkar met with me himself answering my questions and reassuring me I was in good hands. He never made me feel as though I was wasting his time, never charged me for my visits, unlike the other waterloo surgeon who charged me 100.00 for my consultation visit to ask him questions. Dr Shenkar even shared in my excitement when I finally made the decision to go ahead with the procedure. The time for surgery had come, his staff including his nurse Lauren were fabulous. I was so comfortable and ready. The procedure went as expected with great results. The recovery was not nearly as painful as I had worked myself up for with the exception of those first few days when I had to cough. Fortunately for me I had an electric lazy boy which made sleeping and getting up and around much easier. I was feeling myself 7 days later, Back to work in 2 weeks and the numbing subsided around 3 months. 6 months later, I am absolutely loving the results. I cannot believe how flat my stomach is and contoured it is. While he wasn't able to get all of the stretch marks, I am far more confident in my skin today thanks to him. The post surgery visits have been reassuring given the progress related to my scar. I would highly recommend the Dr. Shenkar for anyone wishing to get a tummy tuck. Updated on 8 Oct 2016: I feel great. For the first time I feel confident in my own skin. So pleased. I can actually see six pack

Breast Lift with Implants

One year after surgery and very disappointed in the outcome

Dr. Shenker is pleasant and so is the staff but unfortunately he has no idea how to do a breast lift. Today is my one year anniversary of the surgery with him and I’m already booked to go see another surgeon. I’m very disappointed in the outcome. I would not recommend going to him with anything.

Breast Augmentation and Lift

I wanted to share my experience as so many women on Real Self have helped me prepare for my journey. I’m 39 years old, 5.6” tall. 140 pounds and have one child whom I breastfed for 1 year. I have been wanting to do this for years and finally had my procedure completed yesterday. I will provide pictures as we go along to show my progress. A few tips for the procedure which can be found on other reviews... As recommended I started taking Arnica 2 days prior to surgery and will continue taking until the container is done. I also followed the list of instructions provided by the clinic on the do’s and don’t prior to surgery. I prepared my clothes at home to be accessible thus everything is on my dresser so I don’t have to reach or open any drawers. Wear a shirt with buttons on the front and I personally wore a long skirt which I’m loving. My clinic said no flip flops so I wore slip on shoes. Pain medications are Tylenol xtra strength and oxycodone which I’m taking every 4-5 hours. I did put my alarm to wake up and I’m really happy that I did. Since the surgery was over 1 hour I also have to wear some compression socks provided by the clinic. I learned last night that opening doors and reaching for toilet paper can be challenging so I’m very fortunate that my husband helped with the process :). Highly recommend that you have support to help with everything at least the first 4 days. My goal for the surgery was a lift, increase volume on the upper poles and getting them the same size which is why I chose to go with implants otherwise I would of ended up with size B. Updated on 12 Jul 2018: Had my 2 days post-op meeting today and must say that I’m truly fortunate to have such an amazing team taking care of me at the Cosmetic Clinic. Although I’m uncomfortable, I’m told everything is normal and my breast look good... I’m thrilled with the initial results. Note that my posture isn’t the greatest in my pictures. I also took my shower after the pics and have taken off the bandages. Updated on 14 Jul 2018: I’m almost off the pain medications... the pain from the incisions is minimal, it’s mostly the pressure on my chest that I find most challenging (particularly at night). I’m also curious as to how tight the bra should be since I get so much relief when I take it off for my shower and wish I could loosen it for sleep. For anyone who wonders about showering, I was reluctant at first but it’s awesome and isn’t painful at all. I’ve included pictures to show the stitches from below. Updated on 18 Jul 2018: It’s been a week and wanted to share what we don’t read much about... All I’ve read about pain medication is aligned with my PS. Please consider that it’s enough for a few days and then we are most commonly expected to take Tylenol. Tylenol has never worked for me and yes, this includes Tylenol 3 which means that I haven’t been on pain meds for days and it hurts. I try my best to manage but it’s obvious that I’m uncomfortable during the day and nights are a different beast. I’m currently sitting in an upright position to sleep and try to release the pressure from my bra on my incision lines, needless to say it’s not comfortable. My husband is also complaining that I’m snoring which I don’t normally do (at least he hasn’t commented that my mouth is wide open when I sleep as I’m sure that isn’t a pretty sight) The pain medication is known to cause constipation so my first bowel movement took 6 days. Ladies get yourself some stool softener and take it from the beginning. My doctor also recommended milk of magnesium and it’s worked really well for me. (I finally don’t look 7 months pregnant, I look more like I’m 3 months pregnant now and sadly I’m not kidding) Now this may not apply to everyone but major surgery, pain medications, stool softeners etc does cause your body to imbalance and my vagina has been sensitive. I have been taking probiotics to help... I don’t have a yeast infection but she’s mad! All the physical symptoms aside, I feel completely useless and dependant on my family members to help. I usually do everything around the house and now I’m simply an observer to my life and it’s though. I know this will pass and I will get better but be prepared for the upcoming changes to your life. All this said, I know that I will love my new breast once I’m healed and I’m truly looking forward to that day :) Updated on 18 Jul 2018: Took this picture yesterday... Updated on 21 Jul 2018: I’m starting to feel better although my bra is still uncomfortable due to the implant incisions under my breasts. My breasts are also quite swollen and it causes some pain but it’s manageable. I started sleeping flat on my back 2 days ago as it no longer hurts to get up, I’m soooo happy! Another milestone today, I was able to wear a shirt (an actual shirt with no buttons on the front). I didn’t even need help, yay! Updated on 26 Jul 2018: Getting my stitches out tomorrow :) I’m looking forward to this as I continue to hurt at the crease area and unsure if I should get another bra size or if it’s simply because of the stitches. My nurse did tell me a couple of days ago to really clean the area under to remove the glue which has helped. Updated on 28 Jul 2018: I had a great meeting with Angela, she delicately took out the stitches. I thought it would hurt but she was right, it just felt slightly uncomfortable. She provided me the scar cream, adjusted my bra and recommended some processes for my scabs. She also gave me total piece of mind and answered all my questions. Angela and Lauren have been AMAZING! Updated on 31 Jul 2018: So happy that most of my scabs are mostly gone ???? Now I can put my scar cream, yasss! Updated on 29 Aug 2018: I’m now moving around with little to no discomfort. I’m loving my new breasts! A couple of weeks ago I purchase new bras, I’m a 34D. What surprised me is that although I was super happy to invest in several new bras, I’m still wearing the 2 post surgical bras as they are the most comfortable. I don’t yet feel one of my nipples but understand that it may take a while (if the feeling comes back). My plan is to start working out next week, I’m looking forward to my new journey :) Updated on 21 Mar 2019: I’m fully healed now and wanted to share some information This type of surgery does create scars which is to be expected. I do experience discomfort and at times sharp pain which is temporary. My left nipple does have feeling, not as much as before but overall it’s good. My right nipple is more painful to the touch compared to an enjoyable sensation. This was also the breast for which the areola was more reduced in size. I believe that my nipples are lighter in colour and was told this was not a concern. I also do prefer wearing a sports bra over a wired bra as it’s way more comfortable. I also chose to wear a bra at night now otherwise I may feel some pain, particularly if I want to sleep on my side (use a pillow to help) In my opinion what I’ve described above is to be expected with surgery and overall I’m very happy with my decision and the results. I did this entirely for me but will say that my husband loves my breasts (bonus) .
