Hi!Ideally, a patient is a proper candidate for the medication when their BMI is greater than 27 with a weight related medical problem. If a patient's BMI is lower than 27, its not an absolute contraindication, however, a thorough assessment must be done to conclude if they are a candidate. The patient does not have to be a diabetic for this medication. Absolute contraindications would be personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2. Other considerations would be, history of multiple episodes of pancreatitis, known severe GERD or gastro paresis, diabetic patients taking insulin or any other diabetic medication. I hope this helps!
Hi!I'm sure each office does this a little differently, but we increase the dose gradually. The dose is increased each month and you will normally reach max dose around 5/6 months. Dose can be altered (lowered or increased) due to side effects, patient preference, or if patient needs to lose/gain more weight. I hope this helps answer your question!
Hi there!
As with any weight loss medication, it is highly recommended to improve your diet and exercise to keep weight off post medication, however, with Ozempic and newer weight loss injectables it is rare to gain all your previous weight back. If the patient is solely relying on the weight loss drug to lose weight, they are more likely to regain some of their weight back, but definitely not all. I hope this helps!
Hi there! Botox injected to the masseter muscle does not thin the jaw bone. When Botox is injected to the masseter muscle, it can slim the face due to the actual muscle being relaxed, however, it will not affect the actual jaw bone. I hope this helps!
Hi! Experiencing weakness in the upper lip post lip flip is extremely common. Your injector may have increased your dose, that could be why you didn't experience weakness initially. If I do 4units on a patient, they may experience no weakness, but if I inject 6-8units the weakness is normally guaranteed. Botox, or any neurotoxin injected is meant to weaken or "relax" that muscle, so you can expect it to do the same for the upper lip. I hope this helps!
