Jack Zoumaras, MBBS, FRACS (Plast)
Specialist Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Jack Zoumaras is a specialist plastic surgeon practicing in the Darling Point area of Sydney, Australia. In over nearly a decade in practice, he has become internationally known for his work as a facial plastic surgeon, with 100% of his practice consisting of facial plastic surgery. Dr. Zoumaras is known throughout Australia as a having expertise in Facelift, having operated on celebrities, dignitaries, and scores of wonderful patients from all walks of life and all over the world. Patients seek out Dr. Zoumaras’ practice, Artiste Plastic Surgery, for his expertise and skill performing deep plane facelifts, mini facelifts, and neck lifts (also known as a rhytidectomy), as well as rhinoplasties and eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). “I love facial aesthetics. I always wanted to be a doctor to help people, and surgery was my calling,” says Dr. Zoumaras. “Once I was exposed to plastic surgery as a student at Columbia in New York, I fell in love with the specialty’s variety, the cosmetic and reconstructive efforts, and the fact that you empowered people.” Dr. Zoumaras enjoys the challenge that comes with operating on the face—and seeing the joy and confidence in his patients once they’ve seen their results. Born and raised in Adelaide, Australia, Dr. Zoumaras is the youngest of five children. His involvement in the care of his intellectually delayed elder sister is what inspired Dr. Zoumaras, at a very young age, to want to become a doctor. Dr. Zoumaras earned his medical degree from the Flinders University of South Australia, and he holds Australia’s only formal qualification in cosmetic surgery: he is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. After completing this training and performing over 5,000 procedures, Dr. Zoumaras furthered his skills in cosmetic surgery by completing fellowships at some of the most prestigious medical institutions in Australia, Europe, and the United States. These include an aesthetic fellowship at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and a fellowship in aesthetics and ear reconstruction at Paris, France’s Clinic Bizet. Though Dr. Zoumaras keeps busy maintaining his thriving private practice, he shares his knowledge with the future generation of doctors as a senior lecturer, teaching plastic surgery registrars at the University of Sydney and the University of Wollongong. He is a member of the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Australian Society for Plastic Surgeons, and the chairman for the New South Wales chapter. He is also frequently called upon for his expertise by the media, including Vogue Australia. At home, Dr. Zoumaras enjoys spending time with his wife, Maria (the managing director of Artiste Plastic Surgery) and their son, Nikolas.

I am amazed at the results already

I am 5 weeks post rhinoplasty surgery with Dr Jack Zoumaras and I am amazed at the results already. I have wanted surgery since I was a teenager and was quite self conscious about my nose. After lots of research and having a consultation with Dr Zoumaras, I immediately knew that he was the man for the job. He was welcoming, kind and honest about the procedure. The recovery itself for me was a...

The Best Experience and Results with Dr Z

I wrote the message below to Dr Zoumaras the day my cast came off. I couldn’t recommend him more and I’m so grateful for what he’s done for me. Dr Jack, I simply don’t have the words to thank you enough - nothing I could ever say feels adequate but I’m going to try anyway. When Ash took my cast off and handed me the mirror, I sobbed the happiest tears I’ve ever cried. I genuinely couldn’t lo...

But the level of care and passion Dr Zoumaras and his team have displayed over the months before, during and after surgery has made the whole experience a breeze. I cannot but recommend his services. Q: Why would a scar be done in front of the ear when it can be hidden behind the ear?
Answered by Dr. ZoumarasJuly 14, 2021

A: It all comes down to vector and what you are trying to do. In essence a Facelift will lift the lower jawline, cheek and in particular jowl area (just lateral to the lips which inckudes the marionette lines). The only way to lift the anagtomy in thhis area is to approach it from above and the side and subsequently lift it. The physics of this vector means you must place an incision in front of the ear.
An incision behind the ear only allows access to the lateral neck and lower jawline and none of the jowl.

But there is no need to worry about scarring as a goof Facelift surgeon will conceal the incisions in the ear and you will not see anything.

Q: Do facelifts and neck lifts turn out worse when the patient has had RF microneedling previously?
Answered by Dr. ZoumarasFebruary 10, 2020

A: This is a great question. We know that Ultrasound energy devices such as Ulthera and Thermage can cause damage and scarring to the SMAS that make a facelift harder. As for RF needling the devices are often only skin deep and maximum penetration 3.5mm. They do not penetrate the deeper layers of the face and as such don't affect Facial surgery.

Q: What are my options regarding rhinoplasty? Would my nose be a good applicant for this surgery? (photos)
Answered by Dr. ZoumarasJuly 12, 2019

A: Yes! You can have a Rhinoplasty to reduce the length of the nose and narrow the tip. It is important to note that Rhinoplasty is finesse surgery and all the sturtcures are like a Rubik's cube. If you change one aspect of the nose it affects another. With this in mind a careful Open Rhinoplasty to reduce nasal length, create a nice profile on the dorsum and to lift and narrow the tip is possible with a skilled Rhinoplasty surgeon.

Q: Help, Seroma and open wound after neck and facelift. Looking for a second opinion. (photos)
Answered by Dr. ZoumarasJune 27, 2019

A: Thank you for reaching out and the have the courage to ask the question as the facelift journey is quite the rollercoaster. You may have had a seroma but the main issue now is separation of the wound behind the ear which may have been a factor with seroma. The main cause of this is skin tightness and the skin can undergo some minor necrosis. Don't worry too much about it because with dressings it will heal and the long term result will aesthetically be okay.

Just speak to your surgeon about it for re-assurance.

Q: I'm a singer and just had a neck lift revision on May 16, 4 days post op. How long after revision can I perform? (photos)
Answered by Dr. ZoumarasMay 21, 2019

A: That is a great question.

I would say the photos you uploaded on demonstrate you are healing quickly and you should be okay to perform in mid June. I would premise this with the type of neck lift revision you had. If you had a full neck lift with muscle and gland work I would not allow you to sing for 8-9 weeks.
