A Hello! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Aesthetic Skin - Winnetka & Chicago. This is a great question. What you’re describing sounds like signs of early skin laxity and thinning, which can stem from a combination of factors like collagen and elastin loss, dehydration, and genetics. Even though you're only 33, skin aging can appear early—especially on delicate areas like the hands, neck, and under the chest—if there’s underlying collagen depletion, sun exposure history, or lifestyle factors. Not showering often wouldn’t directly cause wrinkles, but lack of regular hydration (both internal and topical) and a disrupted skin barrier can make skin appear crepey and less elastic. Microneedling can help by triggering collagen production and improving skin texture over time. However, for more advanced or widespread thinning, fractional CO2 laser resurfacing may offer stronger, more visible results—it works by deeply stimulating collagen and tightening the skin. It’s particularly effective for crepey skin and can restore smoother texture and resilience over multiple sessions, though downtime and professional assessment are important. To support results, maintaining a consistent skincare routine that includes retinol, peptides, and daily sunscreen is key. And yes, this kind of aging can be improved—especially if you begin now, before changes become more severe. I hope this helps and best of luck!

A Hello! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Aesthetic Skin - Winnetka & Chicago. This is a great question. It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating and emotionally draining experience, especially after investing so much effort into achieving natural-looking results following a lip lift and multiple filler sessions. The crease or “kink” above your upper lip could be the result of several overlapping factors. First, having a lip lift changes the natural tension and structure of the skin and muscles around the mouth, which can make the area more prone to visible creasing or irregularities, especially when additional volume is added or dissolved. Repeated filler injections and dissolving with Hyaluronidase may also have affected the delicate tissue integrity or caused subtle scarring or fat loss, which can manifest as a fold when the overlying skin loses support. Additionally, if filler was placed in a way that altered how the lip moves or rests, it might have led to an unnatural fold or line forming with time and motion. The fact that the dissolving didn’t resolve the issue suggests that it may now be more of a structural or soft tissue change rather than just residual filler. At this stage, lip reconstruction could help identify whether this is a tissue laxity issue, muscle imbalance, or volume loss—and what kind of treatments (non-filler based or surgical) might improve the contour. I hope this helps and best of luck!
