15 Year Old Female Treated With Braces - I rarely recommend extracting teeth prior to orthodontic treatment but in this case the crowding was so severe that we extracted four second molars, not bicuspids. Extracting second molars allows wisdom teeth to erupt in the second molars' position so there is no collapse of the patient's face, no collapse of lip support and no damage to the patient's airway or TMJ.

Man treated with Braces - Our patient came to us with a crossbite in the front and the back (when the upper teeth are inside of the lower teeth) and an asymmetric bite (center lines of teeth dont line up with each other or the face)!. In order to widen his upper arch we used an expander where he turned a key once a night until we got enough width and then we followed that up with a facemask that brings the upper jaw forward to correct his underbite. After we got enough correction side to side and front and back we finished off with braces top and bottom to create this finish! On this slide youll see before and after of hisresults as well as the appliances used along with the braces to achieve this result!

Woman treated with Braces - Our patient had a crossbite on her back teeth on the right side (when the upper teeth are inside of the lower teeth), an open bite on her front teeth, and the center lines of her top and bottom teeth (aka midlines) were not aligned. We were able to close her bite and correct the crossbite all with braces alone! Because her tongue has a habit of thrusting forward we made her a special retainer that has a tongue crib that she will wear at night to prevent her tongue from pushing those teeth back out to where they started.

Our patient had started with an underbite due to her lower jaw growing more forward than her upper jaw. She also had an asymmetry to her lower jaw which caused the center line of her face to shift to her right side.
