Happy Until the 10th Day Post-op - Now I'm Itchy (Allergy?)

I had a breast reduction 17 days ago and was so happy until the 10th day. I developed a redden area over both my breast from the bottom incision to the top of the nipple which is warm to touch and VERY itchy. I take benadryl but does not help. I saw the dr and steri strips were removed thought was that I was allergic to the adhesive, but still today have no relief. I went to the doctor on day 10 and steri strips removed and told to take benadryl, still no relief and placed on an antibiotic, because I was had the sweats, keflex. I called the dr on day 6 of pills and stated no relief, redness has worsened, no blistering, some dimpling noted. Now placed on Medrol and I am guessing it takes 48 hours for this to work, but I am wondering if this is an allergy to sutures. COuld this be allergy to sutures?

Caution. Green Bay, WI

Dr. Steven Schmidt performed my surgery and I would hesitate to recommend him. He was too rushed to discuss the surgery plan or answer my questions so I went into surgery feeling very insecure about what the outcome would be. At my post-op appointment he handled the surgery site roughly which was painful, and did not ask how I felt but made offensive comments about how I used to look & that this was much better. His nurses were also rude, I definitely did not feel taken care of and there was no follow-up call to check on my recovery. As for the surgery itself, I would rate the final aesthetic result at 3.8/5

52 and Not So Sure Their As Good As New - Green Bay, WI- Update- 100% Happy!

I just had my breast reduction 4 days ago. Yesterday I took my first shower. I actually took a bath so I could shave my legs and then I sponged bathed my breasts and under arms. I feel fine. I only took the prescribed Vicodin three times and then decided that it made me groggy and went to Extra Strength Tylenol. I tried on my clothes yesterday and even went out for dinner. People complemented me saying that now they look at my face versus my breast. They thought I looked 20 pounds lighter. I am 5'3 and 130 pounds. I haven't weighed myself since my surgery because I feel bloated and my stomach now seems bigger because I can see it more! I am not sold on this being the right move yet. I bought 8 different bras and only one fits. The bra I found to have the sss(soft, support and sexy) I found on Amazon. It is Annette Women's Post Surgical Softcup Wirefree Bra. I have the 36D. I like it so much that I bought it in white and tan yesterday! I am used to feeling sexy. Right now I do NOT, but this bra helps! My post op appointment is on Tuesday. I did not speak with my doctor after the surgery so I am not sure how much I have been reduced. Cant wait to get rid of these and be more confident

I've always had large breasts, i entered puberty early so i always felt out of place among everyone else. i am currently a 38 G and i have met up with a plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Schmidt, who examined me and said i was a good candidate for surgery so they sent out the report to see if i would be approved by my insurance company. I have United Health care. Yesterday i opened my mail and i recieved a reply from them, and i got approved!! i am so excited!! i started screaming and jumping and crying i am so excited!!!! Updated on 30 Jul 2013: i just set the date for my surgery and pre op today! my surgery is aug 21st and my pre-op is the 12th. its going to be close since i start school on the 2 of september, hopefully i will figure somthing out for carrying my books. so excited but scared as well, im not good with medical stuff, when the ps was originally talking about what he was going to do i got kinda queasy, and the thought of having drains and the stitches kinda freaks me out. Updated on 30 Jul 2013: ive always been big chested, i started puberty early (around 5th grade) and kept growing from there. in high school i was a DD but now i am a G. im 20 years old now. these...things! have kept me from so much, its really disheartening when you cant do things in your elementary school gymnastics class because of your breasts. i love swimming but finding a suit is difficult. im not the skinniest person i weight about 190 but trying to lose weight by running or jogging is hard. i tried to do insanity but my breasts hindered me. Updated on 11 Aug 2013: im so nervous for my pre-op tomorrow. my surgery is aug 21st. i cant wait but im scared since it's my first surgery ever. Updated on 19 Aug 2013: today is my last day of work before my surgery on wed. im so scared... Updated on 27 Jan 2015: Well its been over a year since my surgery, i know its been a long time since ive been on here. My surgery went very well ( there are a couple funny anesthesia stories i said some pretty weird stuff) and when i woke up i looked down and thought 'where are my boobs?!' they took about 2 pounds off and i went from a 38 G to a 38 C/D! i feel so much better now! and i can finally run!
