David E. Martin, MD

Doctor David E. Martin was recommended to me, by a beautiful woman who’s whole family had used him for breast augmentation. I was having problems with my breast implants and wanted them to be removed, and was also getting a lift. Dr. Martin took great care explaining to me how the lift would be achieved. He is a real southern gentleman and even carried my purse in to the surgical facility for me. His staff answered every question I might have, and during one of my visits I was having a terrible panic attack, and they worked around that with such great care. My results were amazing, and I am going back to Dr. Martin for a lower eyelid lift. I was never rushed. I always felt like I was the most important patient that he had. My results were amazing; when looking at my before and after photos, I am shocked at the level of expertise Dr.Martin has as a surgeon. I find that surgeons are sometimes cold or sterile, but Dr. Martin and his amazing staff made me feel like family from day one. Also, during recovery, they checked on me continuously, answered any questions I had and worked around my schedule for future visits. Dr. Martin is the surgeon that you are looking for. Also, Dixie, one of his Nurses, is an amazing and kind woman. If you’re on the fence about a procedure, because you’re unsure of finding the right doctor, don’t be. Dr. Martin is the real deal.

I have had more than one procedure and a few Botox trips as well. Dr Martin is the most amazing, real & sincere doctor that I have had the pleasure of knowing. He and his staff are always friendly and patient with all my questions (there are always many), and let me know that they have *my* best interests at heart. I refer my friends to him knowing they will thank me for it for years to come. I will continue to drive all the way to Dallas from Austin because I know I will always have the best experience there.

I had consultations with Dr Martin, Godat, Liland, and Raphael in Plano. Out of all of my visits Dr. Martin is the only one that didn't rush me. He sat down and discussed me, why I'm choosing to do this, information on the products I am putting in my body, and a short back story about him and his practice. I was with him for almost 45 minutes (not in his waiting room like the others). For the first time I left an office and said THAT'S THE DR I TRUST! I had an Implant Exchange with Capsulorraphy, Mini tummy tuck, and Lipo of the flanks. Dr. Martin, Becky, Dixie, and Ashley were all there with me before, during, and after my surgery. I felt like they were an experienced team and truly cared for me. Dr.Martin called my husband twice to check on me during my first week of recovery and gave him his cell number if there was anything we needed. Bedside manner, kindness, confidence, cleanliness, and location are TOP! I have already referred him to multiple friends and will continue to do so.

After 2 years of saving up from my previous procedure, I opted to have a 2-stage revision. The implants were hanging off into my armpits, sagging down on my stomach, and causing extreme neck pain due to the oppressive weight. Clothes and bras were impossible to find, my ability to exercise and feel good about myself was practically nonexistant. Stage 1 was a capsuleectomy, total removal of the implant and scar tissue. Stage 2 will be a new augmentation, done under the muscle to create a natural look and counteract the "falling into armpits" effect. Updated on 6 Jun 2017: This is what I had, and everything about 400 cc's on a tiny frame is NOT GOOD. They were so far apart, they basically were sitting in my armpits. Do not let anyone talk you into subglandulars. Updated on 6 Jun 2017: Your boobs should not be this round and this far apart from one another. Nor this heavy! Updated on 7 Jun 2017: I WAS a 32 C in a VS push up bra before I had any work done and felt too small. They size one cup size up on all bras, so I would have been a 32 B elsewhere. After the surgery, I was a 32 DDD at VS, 32 DD elsewhere. This was too large. With prosthetic breast form I am a 34 C, and feeling just slightly under inflated. Without anything, I'm flat with no projection, probably an A or B now since they've been so damaged. Perhaps the national average (34D) is what I am shooting for? I'm confused because this image says the 34 C size is equivalent to 480 CCs and I just had 400 cc implants removed. By that logic, I should be larger in the breast form than I was with the implants. The numbers are not adding up. It also says a 34D is a 590 cc volume. There is no way.

Finally got my courage up and did the surgery yesterday morning. Only took about an hour. As long as you're not scared of a few shots the surgery itself is a breeze. Dr Martin discussed what he was going to do, drew the ink and got my approval before beginning. I also got juvederm. In the corners of my mouth and a little in my lower lip, that's the bruising in the pictures. The incision looks better in person than it does in the pictures, and there are no stitches to take out. Looks very smooth and hidden. I did take one of the pain peels about an hour after the surgery and that did the trick Day 2 - have woken up with a lot more swelling even though I slept with my head elevated but that's just the way it goes. I have a little bit of a bruise mustache. I have been taking Arnica pills for the last three days and will continue to do so. I also got some gel for the topical bruising. Updated on 22 Feb 2017: OK I'm going to be brave and post a couple of pictures. icing has definitely helped it a little bit, just feels very tight with just a small amount of pain. The incision to me looks amazing to just be 36 hours postop Updated on 23 Feb 2017: Swelling came back up while I slept, but gradually going down as the day goes by. Took a half a pain pill yesterday and none needed today. Lip seems better but swelling around incision /nose itself is a little worse but no worries about it. Just a small amount of tightness Updated on 16 Mar 2017: Updated on 18 Mar 2017: I wanted to make a comment regarding the necessity of researching your surgeon. Someone commented that the price of this procedure should come down because it isn't that difficult; I respectfully and firmly disagree. If you mess up a quarter of an inch or slightly at an angle on a breast augmentation incision it's no biggie, mess up up even an eighth of an inch on this procedure and someone's face and entire look is altered. Updated on 2 Apr 2017: A few stitches under the surface are still a little bit irritated and bumpy but nothing at all bad. He definitely hid the scar very well, even my facialist stared at me but could not tell what I had done, but asked me if I had gotten a little facelift, lol. Motivation was my back and neck pain. I was in tears daily from my pain. Also my breast were a size that I couldn't find a bra that actually fit even from specialty stores. My whole life was controlled by my limitations of my breast. My chest wall was constantly moist from the heat of my breast, my clothes never fit and working out was always a problem. Either pulling my top back up over them or not running because of the pain later from my breast. Updated on 1 Oct 2015: Updated on 16 Oct 2015: My three weeks post op pics. I am soo pleased with my results! Of course I'm a type A and want everything perfect but I just look at my old breast photos and I'm happy! My aerola area is a bit small to me given my nipples are so large from breast feeding. But seeing other post op photos it looks to be standard. Also my aerola area was overly sized before so it will take some getting used to. I am already so much happier, having smaller lifted breast! No back or neck pain (although I can't wait to get a massage) Iv bought sports bras from my local store and they fit! ( I used to drive 3hrs to get one before) physically I feel great, and look skinnier. Also for pain management I used the prescribed pills twice the day of surgery with strange results. I was hallucinating and having strange thoughts. So I switched to my essential oils for pain and swelling and felt like a million bucks. I had actually been thinking about having this done for several years, like most of you. I had a couple friends who had the procedure that both said they would do it again in a minute - even though they recovery time was difficult for both. I have a very short waist. At 5'5" tall, I boast an inseam of 35", so am predominately legs :) My first pregnancy I gained about 37 lbs (32 years old) and the second about 50 lbs (36 years old). WIth all that stretching and growing withing a fairly limited space, I was left with quite a bit of sagging skin that became more increasingly difficult to manage as I aged. I finally decided to take the plunge a week ago today with the same plastic surgeon I have used for 2 breast augmentations and rhino/septo/turbinoplasty since 1996, Dr. David E. Martin in Dallas, Texas. My surgery included the removal of 500g +/- of tummy tissue and additional liposuction of the flanks and mons, totalling 900cc of fat/fluid - to compliment the tummy tuck itself and the final contouring results. Dr. Martin used the Progressive Tension Sutures, which eliminated the need for drains, which I was extremely grateful. His office is located in Medical City Hospital and he operates his own operating room within. My surgery began around 7:30 am and took around 5 hours. I was home and resting in my own bed by 3:30 that afternoon. I took Lortab for pain, Robaxin as a muscle relaxer and Keflex asm y antibiotic. Since I had prior familiarity with pain med management in prior surgical procedures - we stayed on top of it with no issues. I will say that I have very little recollection of the two days that followed b/c of the anesthesia coupled with the pain meds. It wasn't fun though.... but I made a huge turnaround beginning Thursday, which is also when I decided to kick the pain meds and stick with advil and the Robaxin. I am still a bit winded and tired but all in all, I am very pleased at how well my recovery is going. One bonus to having the torso of a garden gnome is that I appear pretty normal to most people b/c I'm not bent way over, although I do have a tendency to lean favor to a bit of bending. I am wearing my compression garment all the time and will continue to do so for the six weeks as recommended by my surgeon. I do plan on utilizing a spanx or similar if having a night out on the town or wearing a fabric that would require a bit of a smoother undergarment. It has been one week today and although there is still a great deal of swelling and bruising, the result is already amazing. I cannot image how I will look at the 6 week mark, 6 months, etc. This came just in time to start getting prepared for summertime and I couldn't be happier about that! I will continue to update y'all as I progress and include pictures as well. I only discovered this site mere days prior to my procedure - what an AMAZING resource! So glad to be able to share my journey and to read about others.

They tried canceling the day before my surgery because the doctor was stuck out of town. Had to reschedule my surgery to a later time. While I was laying on the operating table with an IV in my arm about to be put to sleep the anesthesiologist asks me “ so how are you going to be paying me”.. even though I had already paid in full weeks prior. Not given nor recommend proper after care garment. Had to find a proper one on my own. Follow up appointments were hour long wait. Questions went unanswered for long periods of time. They took me off pain meds and wouldn’t prescribe me anymore even though I was still in unbearable pain. They sold me a scar cream that didn’t work for aftercare and when I tried to return it they would not refund me. It’s not right to haggle someone who has spent thousands of dollars at your facility over not refunding me an $85 cream. On top of all of this when I shared all of the above concerns nothing was offered in return to try to make things right. Y’all have loss me as a client and I can no longer recommend coming here.
