How to fix hooded eyes? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Upper eyelid surgery (also called blepharoplasty) is designed to remove unsightly excess skin from the upper eyelids and to re-contour the shape of the eyes for a younger appearance.

You could wait and space them out, but we typically will perform both the Deep Plane Facelift with the fully ablative laser at the same time.

If you always look tired or you can't get rid of the puffy bags below your eyes, a lower eyelid lift, also known as a blepharoplasty, may help to refresh your appearance. In the lower lids, recontouring mainly involves finding a solution for the bulging fat causing the lower lids to look puffy and removing excess skin. The other suggestion would be to go back to the person who did your filler and have them dissolve some of it. I have seen instances where old filler holds on to water and can cause under eye puffiness.

As a standard we use a medrol dose pack after our deep plane facelifts. Within our practice I find that it greatly reduces swelling and helps the healing process. My website describes the deep plane approach in more detail.

45 years old. Facelift or fillers?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Great question and thank you for uploading photos. Let me start by saying that you have aged well. Based on your comment that you don't like your jowls I would say you could go either way. Facelift or fillers to "mask" the jowls. One thing that fillers will do if you keep putting them in that area is they can widen and square off the jawline. Again they aren't correcting the problem, they are just masking it. Hope this helps.

Let me start off by saying that no one really "needs" a facelift. It is only a matter of preference. If nothing bothers you then I would not recommend surgery. One of the things that is very important with any cosmetic procedure is managing patient expectations. I would tell you to meet with a few surgeons in person to talk about options. Hope this helps.

Am I eligible for a facelift?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Thanks for your question. Without a photo it is hard to give advice. I see you mention that you are 22. I would think non-invasive techniques may be an option for you. There are multiple devices that will lift and tighten skin, and they work very well in younger patients. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your photos. I would recommend a "lower facelift". This will address the cheeks, jowls/jawline and neck. Using terms like full, mid and lower are confusing because they mean different things to different people. I would recommend an in person consultation with a few board certified doctors to get a few perspectives. Hope this helps.

Is a drainless facelift more dangerous?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Great question. I think it is surgeon preference. I used drains for years, then I stopped and did not notice any difference with healing. Most surgeons will have their own techniques/preferences pre, intra, and post surgery and the use of drains is just one of them. Hope this helps.

Facelift or injectables? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Thank you for your question and your photos. I can see where you would want to have a more defined jawline. Since you are younger (33), have you tried any non-invasive procedures? Something that will help restore your own collagen? This could be a great option for you since you do have age on your side.

I recently learned that Dr. Brackup has once again been the recipient of "Top Doctor" award in 2025, and that is no surprise! I have been visiting his office over the last 6 years or so. I have had eyelid surgery, laser resurfacing, and a chemical peel with Dr. Brackup and I am really happy with the results. He has a wonderful bedside manner—calm, knowledgeable, and attentive—which immediately put me at ease. I continue to visit the office regularly to see Stacey for Botox treatments, and she is fantastic—skilled, friendly, and always makes me feel comfortable. The entire staff is warm, professional, and welcoming. One of the things I really appreciate is that there is never a wait; appointments run on time, and the office itself is close and convenient.

Always Wonderful Care

I have a high regard for Dr Brackup and his staff. I have had two in-office procedures : a Hetter for wrinkles around my lips and an upper eyelid lift and both went smoothly. The procedures were explained thoroughly, the procedure care by Dr Brackup and staff were superb and the aftercare follow up which included lots of first rate products , was healing, generous and thorough. Since that time I have had laser treatments and most often, chemical exfoliation and dermaplane procedures with Stacey. She is a terrific, caring and professional esthetician with an RN degree including advanced training in medical procedures and hospital emergency room work. I will stop my facial care treatments rather than see anyone but Stacey. I really love her.

1 Month Post Op and Very Happy with Results

From my very first phone call to the office staff to my 1month post op recovery appointment, Dr. Brackup and his entire staff have been informative, attentive and caring. Everyone I have met with during this process has been knowledgeable and thorough, explaining in detail any concerns I have had, as well as ongoing questions. I’m happy to report that my surgery went very smoothly and the results are meeting my expectations 1month post op. It is exactly as Dr. Brackup explained to me in our initial consultation. I understand my results will continue to heal over the next few months. I am very pleased I chose Dr Brackup to perform my procedures.

Amazing Dr with Great Outcome

Dr. Brackup is an amazing, caring surgeon. He took the time to answer all my questions, explain the procedures fully and how recovery would feel. Anytime after the surgery I could call the office with any questions and they got back to you right away, even on a Sunday night! He is an artist and I am very happy with my results. I had my surgery done 2/2024 and I had been to 3 or 4 Dr's for consults before Dr Brackup. I was not really comfortable with any of them, best way I can explain it is you just know it when you found the right surgeon. There was no hesitation to book the surgery so I knew I found the right surgeon. Highly recommend.

Great surgeon - I love my new, refreshed look

I recently had a lower facelift performed by Dr. Alan Brackup. Before my procedure, I had consultations with many other surgeons. I chose Dr. Brackup for several reasons. What sets him apart from others is his expertise in performing deep plane facelifts. This technique repositions deeper layers of the face, resulting in a more natural look. Dr. Brackuo is not only extremely talented, he is also a warm and caring person. His demeanor immediately puts you at ease and it’s obvious that he takes pride in delivering the best possible outcomes. I love my new, refreshed look and am very happy that I found Dr. Brackup. As an incentive for posting a review, this reviewer received an entry into RealSelf’s monthly $500 gift card giveaway.

Wonderful experience - I look so natural, younger and refreshed

After searching for a doctor in my area, I found Dr. Brackup. His education, certifications and experience far exceeded any other doctor. During the initial consultation, we decided on a brow lift, face lift, neck lift and lower eyelids. His entire staff is outstanding. From the nurses, Stacey and Michelle, to the front desk staff, I was surrounded by friendly and knowledgeable people. I have "fantastic" results. I look so natural, but younger and refreshed. Recovery was pain free just like I was told it was going to be. Every step along the way was exactly what I was told it was going to be. Dr. Brackup is the BEST in his field. He does not disappoint. I highly recommend Dr. Brackup for facial cosmetic surgery.

Upper & lower eye blepharoplasty - best care throughout

Dr Brackup performed an upper and lower eye blepharoplasty on me in Oct ‘23. The results are amazing and I am really happy that I went with Dr. Brackup. He is very patient and kind in addition to being very talented. His staff is also very accommodating and I felt like I was in the best care throughout my procedure and after. Highly recommend- go with someone who specializes in Oculoplastic Suregery vs a general Cosmetic surgeon if you are considering the same procedure.
