Mark Karolak, DO, FAOCO

Despite the fact that I’ve been a confident minded man for most of my adult life ( now at 66 years of age) who’s interests and focus has always been on sports, athletics and physical health, I’ve never in my wildest dreams thought that I would reach a point where my dedication and discipline to overall health would need a bit of help and intervention from the field of plastic surgery. Thousands of dollars spent on eye creams and facial moisturizers for men got me this far, but unfortunately these products can’t entirely prevent the aging process from happening at some point in a man’s life. At the same time, I’m confident that these products coupled with my fairly clean diet and nonsmoking lifestyle surely helped to slow down the aging process that happens to the entire body including the face. Therefore, I’m now mentally and emotionally ready for some help from modern medicine. Several years ago my wife was referred to Dr. Mark Karolak- Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon. Her undeniable confidence with Dr Karolak was immediate and established during their first meeting to discuss her facial concerns and desires. His recommendation was to have him perform a “ lower face and neck lift”. Needless to say, the results were beyond successful, they were extraordinary. My exceptionally beautiful wife looked 20 years younger- not an easy task since my wife never looked close to her age. Let’s fast forward to me- basically, I had the same procedure 9 days ago. I’m only about 20% into my recovery and I’m astonished how natural and improved I look. It’s honestly remarkable how the transition and improvement could be so natural in such a short time. How did both my wife and I have this type of experience and successful results? I can answer that with two bullet points: 1. Dr Karolak’s skill set and experience are unmatched. At the same time, his professionalism and sincere approach are very refreshing. I told him the day of my surgery that the primary reason I was there was because of my trust in him. 2. The second reason we selected Dr Karolak was because of his entire team. At our age, we’ve been in several business settings including medical offices and we have never witnessed such a highly functional, competent, compassionate and dedicated team as we experienced with Dr Karolak’s entire staff. We never had one moment of doubt that we made the right decision choosing Dr Karolak and his team. I am only in my ninth day of recovery but I felt compelled to write this review ASAP. I’m not one to write reviews ( positive or negative), but the satisfaction and relief that I feel because of my decision to have this procedure warranted my effort and time to express my feelings. I have total confidence in recommending to anyone the services provided by Dr Karolak and his very capable team.

Well here I am 10mos out from my deep plane neck, and face lift procedures and CO2 laser treatment and I could not wait one more day to share my experience . I want to say I am still living in a dream, I feel like I went to sleep January 10, 2025 and woke up a princess. I feel incredible. Not different just like I went back in time. The best version of me! The best part is everyone thinks my refreshed look was my simultaneous retirement! I am 73 now and my only regret was waiting this long. Next, I have to mention Dr Karolak?s understated talent. He is precise, kind and thorough among many more adjectives. Being a heathcare provider myself I am knowledeable and particular I might add. I not only appreciated his talent and kindness but his personal commitment to all his patients throughout their experience and beyond. Lastly is the office team, Kris ( Surgical Coordinator) will meet you on your consult and be your contact every step of the way. What a journey this has been, and I am so incredibly grateful for crossing paths with the amazing Dr Mark Karolak and his staff. After 3 detailed initial consultations with surgeons across the country my third was with Dr Karolak and he actually told me no, not yet. There was an abnormality on my face that he wanted further investigation on with experts before moving forward. Just wow. Once cleared, the time he spent explaining to me the procedure, answering all my questions and discussing my situation had to put a major dent in his schedule- he invested his time in me, my concerns, and set expectations with outcomes. But that was just the beginning. He is the most caring, thorough, skilled doctor I have ever encountered. He personally monitors every patient through their recovery and is available any time day or night with any issues or questions. And most important- my results are incredible! Excellent medical artist. He treats all of your questions with time and respect and a detailed answer. He has all of your best interests in mind. He is warm, caring and a consummate expert and professional. His nurses and he kept me at ease and comfortable before, during, and after the surgery. I am fortunate to have found him and his hospitable and amazing staff.

I can not speak highly enough about Dr Karolak and his entire staff.. My experience was outstanding it was professional, compassionate and patient centered . Dr Karolak listened to my goals and explained every step of the process in detail while delivering results that have far exceeded my expectations all while maintaining a completely natural look!!

I knew after my consult with Dr Karolak that he was the plastic surgeon I would trust to perform a deep plane facelift and temporal lift. He was absolutely great. From the moment I walked into Dr. Karolak’s office I knew I was in the right place. I had done consultations with 3 other doctors before him and as they say save the best for last!! The staff is extremely professional and KIND! Dr. Karolak spent a lot of time with me going over the best plan for me and what won we over was not only his outstanding reputation/results but his caring manner. I knew I would be in good hands and boy was I right! I had a neck and deep plane face lift along with a temporal lift, lower blepharoplasty, and CO2 laser. I am currently 7 weeks out and my close friends and family are blown away at how I look just like myself but totally refreshed. From the moment I made the phone call to have a consultation with Dr Karolak I knew it was going to be the right decision. The staff is warm and friendly yet extremely professional. That is who Dr Karolak is himself. He was wonderful at explaining what could and what could not be accomplished. He explained the procedures at length. He explained what to expect during recovery at each stage. He was available directly when I had questions and needed reassurance. My results are wonderful I still look like me, only better. I’d like to share my experience with Dr. Karolak, although I prefer to remain anonymous at this time because I was not entirely truthful with my workplace about why I was taking time off—I had a lower face and neck lift, and I was excited to have Dr. Karolak perform my surgery. I first met Dr. Karolak years ago when he worked at another practice, and I was always impressed with him. I knew that when the time came for surgery, he would be my choice. So, several years later, I scheduled my procedure a year in advance, knowing how difficult it would be to take time off from my demanding job. The surgery itself went smoothly. Because I didn’t undergo general anesthesia, I wasn’t groggy and felt great the next day. However, three days after surgery, I felt so good that I made the mistake of doing too much too soon, instead of taking it easy and letting myself heal. I didn’t fully grasp what light activity really meant. This set me back by about a week of recovery. To get back on track, Dr. Karolak and his assistant, Paola, saw me every single day—even on weekends, evenings and early mornings before other patients arrived. They carefully monitored my healing, adjusted my bandages, and reassured me through what was a very stressful time. Their dedication was remarkable. Now, nearly three months post-surgery, I am thrilled with my results. While the first 30 days were challenging because of over-exerting myself, I cannot overstate how much I appreciate Dr. Karolak’s commitment to his patients. His level of care is truly commendable. A word of advice—no matter how great you feel after surgery, listen to your doctor's instructions and give your body time to heal. I didn’t, and it slowed my recovery. But thanks to Dr. Karolak and his team, I’m now fully healed and beyond happy with my results. I highly recommend Dr. Karolak for any facial procedure. You will be in excellent hands!
