I am a 49 year old female who lost over 60lbs through diet (1200 calorie diet) and drinking 2-3 fit sticks per day. The rapid weight loss has left me with a lot of loose skin. I have had previous C-Section and Hysterectomy which left me with an upside down T scars. I had consultations with two different Plastic Surgeons and ultimately decided on Dr. Ledinh to perform the surgery. Dr. Ledinh explained the traditional tummy tuck as apposed to Fleur De Lis. He listened to all of my concerns and answered my many questions. I am nervous but also excited at the same time. Surgery is in 6 days! I will try to post regularly with photos. Updated on 1 Feb 2018: I am 1 day post op, still in the hospital. I expect to go home today after lunch. My pain has been manageable not getting above 5. Took my first walk and it went pretty well just can't stand tall because of the muscle repair. I have 2 drains in which are only draining around 20 in 24 hours. My Foley catheter was taken out early this morning. Hopefully I will be able to post a pic tomorrow. Updated on 3 Feb 2018: I am 3 days post op. The pain is very tolerable coming in at 3-5 on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being worst. I have been sleeping a lot. Taking extra strength Tylenol during the day for pain and Percocet at night. My fevers been spiking to 101.0 but not higher. Output from JP drains have been around 20 in left and 10 in the right. Finally took a shower which always makes you feel better. Suggestions for those preparing for surgery, make sure you have Tylenol, non stick gauze, self adhesive coherent wrap tape, colace and lipofoam (you can order online from Amazon). My power recliner and power bed has been my saving grace, makes it so much easier to get in and out of bed, no assistance needed. Couple pics, still cannot stand upright. Updated on 4 Feb 2018: I am 4 days Post op and couldn't be happier with my result so far! My biggest complaint is not standing tall no lower back spasms. I did a 20 minute massage with my bed today and seemed to help tremendously. New photos attached ????! Updated on 6 Feb 2018: Six days postop and I feel great. I did have my first big sneeze yesterday and thought I blew a tire LOL. The pain from that was excruciating but I survived. Today I seem to need to cough hard but every time I do I get tears in my eyes. That is probably the worst pain I've had so far. When looking at my new photos it looks like I'm a little swollen down south compared to days before. I have my first postop appointment on Friday and hopefully he will remove the drains. Updated on 8 Feb 2018: Still feeling pretty good except for this nagging cough. Got my shower chair delivered yesterday and I must say that is a definite item needed. I seem to get fatigued rather quickly. Swelling seems down today. Still very pleased with my result so far! Happy Healing!! Updated on 10 Feb 2018: I am so in love with my new belly! Both drains were removed yesterday. There was no pain associated with the removal just a strange sensation almost like a release. I am happy to be drain free. My PS did say I needed to watch for swelling because I may need to be drained. I did wake this morning with a what looks like a small blister by my belly button (see pic) so I will watch that. No pain medication in 7 days only some Tylenol for the backache. Feeling Great! Updated on 13 Feb 2018: Can't believe it's been 12 days yesterday! Yesterday was the first day I did a flight of stairs and also kept my wood stove going since my surgery. To say I over did it is an understatement. I ended up in bed by 7, got my 20 minute massage on and off to sleepy town I went. I still have the small blister by my belly button and the low back spasms but doing great otherwise. I am finally sleeping almost flat now and can sleep on my side. Like most on here, you stalk Real Self and read good stories and also horror stories then you question why you're doing it. I can honestly say I did it for ME! Here's to many more days of smooth sailing on the flat side! Now to just save money for a breast lift! Updated on 17 Feb 2018: 16 days po and still feeling great! My back spasms have been much better. Yesterday was the first day since surgery I didn't use my shower chair. My biggest dilemma right now is my bb and the black hole. Can someone tell me what I should be doing with it? I see my PS on Tuesday and will ask him but thought I would check with the rs readers. I purchased two new bikinis and must say I'm loving my belly! Hoping to have continued happy healing on the flat side! Updated on 21 Feb 2018: I saw my PS yesterday and he was pleased at how well I'm doing. My belly button is still seeping some pus, but much better than it was. My doc wants me to continue with the bacitracin twice a day. I got the okay to start scar therapy. He said biggest thing is massage but can use silicone scar tape or any other scar treatment. Still having some swelling, gets worse as the day goes on. I am to continue compression garment or binder for up to 6 more weeks. I will see him back in one month. Updated on 28 Feb 2018: One month and nothing much to report. My recovery has been very smooth sailing on the flat side! I went back to work last week for 4 hour days for 2 weeks. I still get some swelling down south. I started mederma once a day, massage my scars twice a day and use scar tape for 8-10 hours a day. Still wearing compression garment/binder 24/7. Updated on 11 Mar 2018: Nothing much to report except still some swelling but not bad. Last week was my first week back to work full time and it went better than expected. Updated on 13 Apr 2018: Ok so I tried Embrace but had to remove them within 4-5 hours of placement. They seemed to make my scars inflamed and very painful. I was using ScarAway and they seem to be the best for me. I am also using Mederma and massage with Palmer's Cocoa Butter with Vitamin E skin therapy oil. Jury is still out on any kind of therapy but if one of you lovely rs friends have used something that really helped, PLEASE SHARE! My recovery has been uneventful with some swelling. I no longer need compression binders but if I swell I just do double compression and the swelling goes down. I started tanning but I must keep scars covered per my PS (I might add he wasn't happy about me tanning yet but agreed to it) so I will just have white lines. Happy healing y'all!! Updated on 30 Apr 2018: Just comparing scars from 21 Days Post op to 3 months Post op. I also wanted to share I still get some swelling up high and sometimes down south. I purchased a 6" rib compression binder through Amazon for $6.99 and I am happy I made that purchase (see photo). Happy healing... Updated on 30 May 2018: Wow, can't believe it's been 4 months already! I have had the most uneventful recovery. I am currently trying different scar treatments. My latest is Plato's Dark Scar Corrector and the Scar Serum twice a day. I have noticed much improvement in the scar colors and flattening. The pics just don't do justice. I've used Scaraway tape, Embrace (which made my scars very red and inflamed), Biocorneum (very little improvement) and Plato's which seems to be the best for me so far. On a side note, I still get some swelling but just put on one of my abdominal binders and wear at night or sometimes I will wear for a few hours while at work. I like the binders because they are easy on easy off unlike compression garments. Happy healing y'all!!!
Dr.Ledinh was awesome! From my first appt until now he has always answered all my crazy questions and just great! He called me the same evening after my surgery to check in and I can’t say enough great things about him. I was skeptical at first, but I love my new look! Highly recommend to everyone!
My experience was better than I had expected. At first I was unsure about the look of my surgery results right away, but with a little patience on the healing process, I could see the results were actually way better than I had originally imagined , and I am more than impressed with Dr. Ledinh's work. He should be recommend to everyone!
Dr.Ledinh is an amazing, talented and professional surgeon. I was very nervous about having my procedure done, and his confidence made me feel more confident. Very gentle, honest, and wonderful demeanor. Dr. Ledinh is young and he has a great looking future ahead of him. I am honestly blown away with my results. He is my new BFF-bosom buddy forever!
From my first phone call to schedule a rhinoplasty consultation to today's post-op appointment, 1 week after the procedure, I have had a wonderful experience with Dr. Ledinh and his staff! Dr. Ledinh has given me the perfect nose for my face and it is only 1 week after the procedure, so it will continue to improve! If you have ever wanted a change, make an appointment with him!!
Three years ago I had bariatric surgery and with this I was able to lose about 100 lbs. With this being said I had a large amount of access skin in my stomach region that I wanted removed. After doing some research I made an appointment with Dr. Lehinh's office. All I can say is WOW ! From the first phone call with his office staff I knew I had found where I wanted to go. When I first met him, he was extremely professional and caring about my situation. We went over all the different options and each procedure in detail. I walked away from my consultation extremely knowledgeable all my options. After deciding which way I wanted to go I ended up choosing to have the full tummy tuck with muscle repair and liposuction. I am officially 12 weeks postoperative and have seen Dr Ledinh several times since my initial visit and I must say he is a wonderful doctor ! Anytime I have questions I get answer within a day if it's not an actual office visit and when I am in the office he makes the time to go over any questions or concerns. He truly cares about his patients and their wellbeing. With that being said I could go on and on about how happy I am with my results and this physician! If your his area I would highly recommend Dr Ledinh ! You cannot go wrong he is great and what he does ! A physician who takes pride in his work is one who will never do you wrong.
After losing 75 pounds and kept it off for over a year it was time! My abdominal and arm skin sagged so much that I finally convinced my husband that this was the right thing to do. Yes, it was a great expense. Now that I am 6 months post op, would I say it was worth it, definitely YES! My abdomen looks flat! And my arms don't jiggle anymore! I do have scars. My abdominal scar is right at my underwear line so that doesn't bother me. Arms are another story though. I was warned about the arm scars being noticeable and they are from the back. They are getting lighter each day though and I'm looking forward to not jiggling this summer!
Dr. Ledinh did an amazing job on filling out my upper lip. He perfected my look to make my results more natural by addressing the surrounding area with filler where he saw needed. I left confident and satisfied with the outcome. Dr. Ledinh carefully and fully explained the effects of restylane silk to me so that I knew what to expect after the procedure. I did swell and encountered some bruising from this product, however this all subsided after a few days and I did develop small nodules in my upper lip that I massaged away. I am so happy with my lips and I would do this again with Dr. Ledinh to keep this look!
Today I went for my preop for bilateral Breast Lift with Anchor incision. I am excited to get the girls back up to where they belong and as my plastic surgeon says “reset the clock”. I am 52, 5’5”, 122lb and 32DDD. My surgeon and I have discussed implants but feel that I may get the results I am looking for with just a lift. I can always do implants 3-6 months down the road if I decide to. When he does the lift he said I will end up a little smaller which I am fine with. Updated on 14 Oct 2020: Went for my Covid 19 testing today, praying it comes back negative. Told I needed to be quarantined until surgery. I have 5 days till surgery, getting super excited! Pics will be posted this weekend. Updated on 19 Oct 2020: Today is the day I have been waiting for for a while now. I will not so patiently wait for my reveal. My surgery went well, I am at home resting with ice packs on my chest. Pain medications are wearing off. My current pain level is 4-5. while in the surgery center I had IV anabiotic’s and also a heparin injection. I’m not sure if I have the anchor incision or if my plastic surgeon ended up doing just the lollipop with a little bit of a T at the bottom of my incision or full Anchor incision. I am able to shower in 1 to 2 days. I have no drains which is a plus. I will update once I shower. Here are my before pictures. Between gravity and weight loss my boobies have been sagging. Updated on 20 Oct 2020: I slept pretty good last night. I only had one pain pill since yesterday at the hospital. Pain level currently 2-3. The pain is more of chest wall soreness with the nipple sensitivity. I am using ice packs off and on. Tomorrow I will actually be able to take a shower and look at the girls. Kind of excited!! Updated on 21 Oct 2020: 2 days post op I feel great! Got my much needed first shower this morning. A little bleeding at the incision site by my right nipple but think it’s just irritated from showering and taking the dressing off. I will watch that. Pain literally has been a 2-3 if that. I took one pain pill the first night and have been using Tylenol and ice packs if needed ever since. From what I can tell my PS did a Lollipop incision with a partial anchor. Love the girls. I know they will settle and be more round as I heal. Outfit of the day jammies, compression bra and a tank. Next up breakfast... Updated on 21 Oct 2020: Updated on 22 Oct 2020: I just can’t stop looking at the girls ???? Updated on 27 Oct 2020: I had my one week post op appointment today and I saw my PS Physician Assistant Amy. She was super sweet, answered all my questions. She was amazed at how well my boobies looked. The look on the faces of the two medical assistants that were in the room when I dropped my robe was hilarious. It was kinda like a candid camera moment or deer in the headlights as their jowls hit the floor. I can start using weights with my workouts just not over 20lbs. I started lower body workouts minus weights 3 days post op so thankful I can bump it up and do upper body too. I need to continue to wear the compression/supportive bras for a month, no underwire. I still need to sleep on my back or partly on my side for another few weeks, no laying on them. Once my steri-strips all fall off I can start scar therapy. She said they recommend massage with coconut oil or scar cream every day but I can also use the silicone scar sheets. I can resume sexual activity including nipple stimulation. She also said they will continue to drop and become more round over time. I told her Dr Ledinh created a monster, that I am so obsessed with the girls. I am so happy I did this for myself. Recovery has been a breeze. The best part about this surgery, they are mine, all natural, nothing fake about them. Will I ever think about implants?!?!, I will never say never -\_(“/)_/-... Updated on 29 Oct 2020: Just a quick follow up: A little over a week post op and I had sex last night for the first since surgery. Everything was great. He was able handle my boobies and stimulate my nipples, my left nipple is more sensitive than the right but they are both sensitive to touch which is good. Updated on 3 Nov 2020: Loving my new boobies more and more each day. My boyfriend is able to stimulate both nipples but the right is definitely more sluggish. He says they use to hang really low and now they are perfect. Slowly loosing the steri-strips. Hoping to start the scar treatment in a few days. Incisions are looking great. I do get phantom pains every once in awhile, no need for any pain meds. I seriously only took one pain pill the first night from surgery. I used ice packs to keep swelling down. My weight has remained the same (119-121). I started using weights (3lb) with my workouts. I may try to increase to 5lb weights this evening. I am used to using 8-10-12lb weights so it’s a definite adjustment. I will see my PS right before Thanksgiving. I AM SO HAPPY I DID THIS! Can’t stop smiling!!Thanks for reading and happy continued healing. Updated on 8 Nov 2020: Nothing new to report. My recovery has been smooth so far. I just wanted to try “Braless” and from the picture the girls are PERFECT. I will add my PS warned me about going braless. He said it’s ok once in a great while but if you always go braless gravity is going to take over and you will ruin what you paid all that money for. Just wanted to warn everyone thinking about or currently had a breast lift to be weary. Updated on 16 Nov 2020: 28 Days Post Op My recovery is still going very smoothly. I am still wearing the compression bras. I purchased three sports bras but feel they are not tight and supportive enough so I am not wearing them. My scar therapy started out with the silicone sheets but only used them 2 days. I decided to try Vitamin E ointment and massage this time around for my scars. I’ve been doing it faithfully for a week, massaging with the ointment twice a day. I do cover my nipples and the incision with non-stick gauze pads before putting the garment on. I really notice a difference already. The outer edge of the anchor incisions were raised and thick and they have both smoothed out. I am still working out 4-6 days a week using 5lb weights. I do notice certain moves I cannot do, it feels like it’s pulling on my boobies so I don’t do it. You will know your limitations. Listen to your body when working out. I will see my PS next week. I will find out then when I can go to regular bras or increase my lifting restrictions. I am so happy I did this. I think my girls are PERFECT... Updated on 19 Nov 2020: These are the bras I purchased for my recovery. I liked the Marena ones the most but the other two had good compression as well and much cheaper. Updated on 24 Nov 2020: 5 weeks post op. I saw my PS for a follow up. He said every thing looked good and I could start wearing regular bras including underwire. My recovery has been exactly how I had hoped. We talked about implants and said we could look at them at my 3 month follow up. I love my all natural, nothing fake about my boobies but I will never say NEVER to implants down the road. I’m gonna just let my girls heal and see what happens. I have NO REGRETS for doing the lift only. Updated on 25 Nov 2020: First day I’m allowed to wear a real bra and literally wanted to take it off within the hour. On the plus side though I didn’t have boob seepage or a third boob like I normally did when I wore this bra. As soon as I got home from work I put a compression bra back on. Hopefully it will get easier each day. Updated on 6 Dec 2020: I went bra shopping yesterday. I went to VS and had the one associate measure me. She ended up saying I was a 34D. I was disappointed due to Covid the fitting rooms were closed. I picked out 4 push-up bras because they are my favorite. I was however very worried because I couldn’t try on first but also excited to get home and try them on. To my surprise they fit. The test will be me wearing the bra all day to see if the girls stay in place. I will do an update on that this week. Updated on 12 Dec 2020: Let me start by saying I have had a very smooth recovery and would do it again. I did however have my upside down “T” incision under my left breast opened up a little. I caught it very early and sent pics to my PS. I cannot emphasize enough to TAKE PICTURES EVERY DAY IN SAME LIGHTING and all angles. I started out using the vitamin E ointment which did a great job. I switched to the ScarAway silicone strips a couple weeks ago. I really am not sure why I switched other than I used them with my TT. As you can see from my pics it was a very small hole. I actually felt a stitch poking through. My PS told me to stop the silicone strips immediately and start using Triple Antibiotic ointment and cover with gauze. I have been doing that since December 8 or 9 and as you can see it did wonders. It’s not completely healed but most of my scars are really nonexistent. My right breast is PERFECT! I will try to do an updated pic in a week. I am still so happy I did this. You can say I am still obsessed lol. Updated on 19 Jan 2021: Really nothing new to report other than the open spot under my left breast has healed. To be totally honest I haven’t messed around anymore with scar treatments. I am pleased with how they are healing on their own. I still check the incisions every day but overall I am super happy with my result. I will see my PS next week to talk about implants but I’m leaning towards no for now. On a side note I work in healthcare and got my first Covid vaccine (Pfizer). I had a sore arm for a couple days, Tylenol was my friend but no other side effects. Next shot is on the 30th. I highly recommend everyone get the vaccines when it is available to y’all. I will update after I get the second one only because they say that one is the brutal one...
Sorry to hear about your issue with muscle spasms. Generally, when we perform latissimus flap breast reconstruction, we will try to denervate the muscle by dividing the nerve to the latissimus muscle. This helps to prevent animation and muscle spasm in the reconstructed breast. If the muscle spasm you are experiencing is in your breast where the latissimus muscle has been relocated to, it might be best to consult with your plastic surgeon and inquire about a surgery to find the nerve to the muscle and divide it.
Botox will not help to fix the issue in your case. We generally do not use Botox to correct any issues with the upper eyelid -- one side effect of injecting Botox too close to the upper eyelid is causing it to appear droopy. Although it is difficult to tell for sure, you may have an element of blepharoptosis that is causing the asymmetry in your eyelids. The fix for that would be surgical to reattach or shorten the upper eyelid levator muscle. Your best bet would be to see a board certified plastic surgeon to evaluate your specific case.
Thanks for your question. In general, Alloderm will incorporate and grow into your your breast tissue. It does not attach itself to the breast implant. Rotating your breast implant will not fix any rippling. Usually, rippling is a result of either the implant pocket being too big or the breast implant being too small. This can be fixed through a few options: changing the implant, revising the implant capsule/pocket, or fat grafting to help mask the rippling. It is best to consult with your plastic surgeon to see what exactly the issue is and what would be the best option to help remedy it.
Thanks for your question and photos. I would say that so far, everything looks great from a glance at the photos. 1 month is still very early in the healing process. It can take several months before you can appreciate the final result as the implants settle out, swelling completely resolves, and the tissue relaxes. Just be patient and keep following up closely with your surgeon, who can best advise you. Also remember that not very many people have perfectly symmetric breasts. I always make sure to tell my patients that breasts are generally related, but not necessarily identical twins. Doing both an enlargement and a lift can increase the chance of subtle asymmetries. Hopefully they will even out more in the next few months. Hope this helps and Best of luck!
The good news is that Botox only works temporarily. It should not last more than 3-4 months at most. Therefore, if you didn't like the effect - don't do it again. That being said, you could probably get by with a "try out" of about 5-10 units to at least soften those forehead lines. The sensation after getting Botox done for the first time is difficult to explain and put into words. I have never had anyone compare it to feeling like a brick. I would say it feels like a strange heaviness at first, which then goes away soon thereafter. Hope this helps!
