It's 1 & half years I've been looking for reduce my long philtrum (20mm) and have a better tooth show. For many people it wasn't shocking but I was obsessed by this (I saw my turtle face in every photos :-D) Thanks to this site and all rs members I discover "the solution". I spent many times researching the good surgeon in France and made comparisons ( customers content, explore website & social network, send photos by email to have an advice). Finally I decided to meet Mr. M. in Paris (4 hours by train from my city). The consultation was quite quick but he gave me the information I needed : - Am I a good candidate : yes because of a long philtrum and a minimal tooth show and because I want a more feminine look. - How will the operation process : (for many surgeon it's a local anesthesia) for me it Will be a global anesthesia (45 min) I guess it was for a more easier work for my surgeon. He used a endonasal procedure which consist in put the scars into the nostrils and not below (subnasal procedure). He tells me it will be more natural and the scars will be less visible. - The most important question for me HOW MANY MM will be removed? Because I read many reviews, I was focused on 8 mm without considering the shape I could have. - and some others questions but different according to each people : swelling time, final shape, mm the lip can drop,...). After this consultation I planned a surgery day in September. Updated on 14 Oct 2019: I couldn't post one picture right after the surgery like people who have local anesthesia. Then I had a lot of bandages. No pain. It's only difficult to open my mouth to speak or eat. But the results sounds good. Updated on 14 Oct 2019: I guess I'm lucky because I'm not very swelled but my nose look like a potato. I mesure my philtrum this morning and it's around 13 mm (7 mms removed). I thought my surgeon could remove more than 7 mm but actually he explain me why he couldn't (next update) Updated on 14 Oct 2019: No change. I took an antibiotic treatment during 7 days to avoid the staphylococcus infection. Few bleeding from surgery Dday to the day 3. My surgeon tells me to only disinfect with an antiseptic spray. Updated on 14 Oct 2019: I'm on my way to Paris to remove my stiches. I'm so scared to remove them because I'm afraid my lip fall down. My length is always 13 mm. I asked him why he couldn't remove more than 7 mm (because I would like my philtrum shorter), he explain me he would avoid a triangle shape or bunny face (1st) and it was impossible to not damage my nostril and columella (2nd). Finally, I'm OK with that and I'm happy that he was conservative. I ask him for a revision (2~3 mm) but we'll see that in 6 month post op. So now I hope my nose will be less swelled soon. My scar seems to be right at the moment.
I have spent years looking at this surgery and wondering if it is for me. Having had rhinoplasty with upper lip graft 10 years ago has left me with a long and uneven lip. It is apparently impossible to remove the fat but hopefully this will correct the length in my lip, which is ageing. This doctor seems to have a lot of experience and a practical approach. Updated on 19 Apr 2017: I had a lip lift last year with Dr Masson. He was very pleasant and reassuring and I believe the lip lift itself was a success. However, my nostrils have been deformed by the surgery (pulled down so elongated rather than round, particuarly my left nostril). I don't believe this is an error of Dr Masson but a possibility in liplift surgery. I would highlight this to all patients wishing to proceed with this. Avoid pulling top lift down (to rub lips together) and leave mouth open as much as possible. Although it seems to heal quickly it takes about a year for it to really 'settle'. Please note that the unevenness in my lips was already present due to a fat great over ten years' ago. Any questions, don't hesitate.
