This was my first time doing lip fillers so i was very nervous. However Dr. Tan made me feel at ease throughout the procedure. She explained the process thoroughly which I appreciated. She was very patient and made sure I was satisfied with my lips every step of the way. I surely will be back and highly recommend her!
Dr. Susan Tan was great! She explained everything in detail before and after care. Her hands are very gentle. I felt very comfortable during the whole process. Her office is absolutely beautiful. Overall, everything was great! I love how my lips turned out.
Dr. Tan is the best doctor there is. She knows what looks good, she has good taste, and will make you look better in a completely natural way (i.e. it won’t scream that you had “work”done). I would highly recommend!
I went to Dr. Tan for a Hollywood Spectra Laser Peel Treatment last week. I haven’t had experience with laser peels previously, but was really excited and a little nervous. Her office emailed me with all the details about the procedure and what to expect, which was really helpful. Once I arrived, Dr. Tan made me feel so comfortable, took the time to chat about the procedure and answered all my questions. It was painless and I couldn’t believe how smooth my skin was! I also really liked how it didn’t make my skin peel for days after like other peels I’ve done in the past. I love how my skin looks and can’t wait for another!!
I had the best experience with Dr. Tan!!! It’s my first time getting lip fillers done so I was nervous going in to my appointment but Dr Tan was very comforting and knowledgeable with what she does. She made me feel comfortable and at ease. I’m very satisfied with my results. Thanks Dr. Tan
Dr. Tan is amazing. She did lip filler and Botox around my eyes. Her office is welcoming and beautifully decorated. I was a little nervous about and Dr. Tan really eased my anxiety during the appointment. She took her time and made sure my lips looked how I wanted. I love my results. My lips still look natural but with a bit more volume. My confidence has really improved.
I saw Dr. Tan in 2016 for a functional rhinoplasty. An ENT who specialized in adult care did not feel comfortable performing surgery on my nose due to its small size. I went to Dr. Tan as she specializes in pediatrics. Initially, she made me feel comfortable and confident that she could help me. I was elated to finally be getting my deviated septum fixed and to have a “functional rhinoplasty” (covered by my insurance co.) to help with my nose breathing function. I went in for surgery in June 2016. Beforehand, I had several appointments with Dr. Tan to discuss the surgery and how it would be beneficial. I was sent to Straub to have detailed photos taken of my nose. These were to be used during the surgery. I was happy with my nose’s appearance pre-surgery, but was exhausted from never being able to properly breathe through my nose. The team at Kapi’olani was amazing as usual. The anesthesiologist was kind and made me laugh before going under as that can be an anxious time. After the surgery, I was in recovery at home for several days and had restricted activities for a long period. My mom took me to Dr. Tan’s office and the large “stints” were removed. For many months, I didn’t feel any benefits and my nose was drastically different in appearance. Dr. Tan said my nose would settle over time. I followed up with all appointments, including a visit one year later as instructed. I shared that I still was not feeling benefits (and my nose still looked quite different). She shared that I had “nasal valve collapse.” During the surgery, cartilage had been taken from the septum for the nasal valves to be supported, however this is a mistake. I learned from my own research that cartilage should be taken from the ear/ribs for the nasal valves. I am now worse off than before. Dr. Tan recommended “nasal cones” to help me with breathing at night. I remember going to Longs and asking about them and they said to look online. I felt terrible. All of this time (and money as insurance doesn’t cover every thing) spent on surgery and recovery and my breathing was worse than before. Now, nearly 7 years later, I am finally writing this review. My nose looks fine (although *quite different), but I still suffer from all the things I did before the surgery and from “nasal valve collapse.” Dr. Tan seemed knowledgeable and kind, but, in the end, she did not help me. She also did not offer ways to truly help with the nasal valve collapse issue. At some point, I will need to see an ENT again and have cartilage taken from the ear or ribs for my nasal valves. That doesn’t sound too fun, so I’ve been putting it off. I wish Dr. Tan had been more knowledgeable about where to get cartilage for the nasal valves and that she had been more transparent about making that mistake. And have offered to repair it or provide some sort of help besides advising purchasing “nasal cones.” I am shocked to see Dr. Tan has opened a center for plastic surgery and filler treatments. The mistake she made with my nose may be common to ENTs, but it is not for experienced plastic surgeons.
The chin is structured by the underlying bone, soft tissue and mentalis muscle. A combination treatment can give you the aesthetic chin you are looking for. Specifically, the bulk of the mentalis muscle can be relaxed with botox, and this can help to reduce the width of the chin when smiling. To give the appearance of a more heart shaped or 'pointy' chin, dermal filler placed strategically in the lower face can achieve that. This combination treatment can help create more harmony in the face and improve facial proportions.
Hello, when it comes to dermal filler, your injector and yourself should agree on the aesthetic goal, in your case, correcting lip asymmetry. Dermal filler is a great treatment for this. Common dermal fillers used in the lips include Juvederm Ultra / Ultra Plus / Vollure, Restylane Kysse, Belotero, Versa Lip and RHA 2 or 3. Different lip filler can create different effects and duration, and the best choice depends on your desired result. In terms of the amount of dermal filler, especially in the lips, I recommend 'less is more'. Most dermal fillers come and are purchased in an 1ml syringe, and in the case of correcting lip asymmetry as yours, I don't anticipate to use more than 1/2 of a syringe. I would leave this at the discretion of your injector.
Hello, do you have a "before treatment" photo? Without comparing before and after, your concerns can be due to a few things. (1) Allergies - I see a lot of patients with allergy issues, and certainly allergies can cause fluid to build up in your sinuses and around your eyes. This can lead to under-eye swelling. Management of allergies will include identification of triggers, avoidance, and treatment of symptoms (antihistamine, nasal corticosteroid spray like flonase). (2) Dermal filler - filler injection in this region is very tricky. If the product is placed in the wrong place, it can be too superficial which leads to visibility of dermal filler underneath the skin and contribute to a swollen appearance of the lower eyelid. If too much product is placed, it can contribute to blockage of the lymphatic drainage system of the lower eyelid and also contribute to swelling. (3) Herniation of fat - which can be genetic or age-related. Your photos are not clear. It would be a good idea for you to follow up with your injector. If you are concerned about this being a filler side effects, you may talk to your injector about getting the filler dissolved, and see if the swelling and darkness improve.
Are you lifting your brows in these photos? It is important to figure out whether these are 'dynamic' movement wrinkles as neuromodulator may help. The cause of these wrinkles is usually due to the muscle contractions (specifically frontalis muscle or forehead muscle) under the skin, eventually etching lines in the skin. Botox is a neurotoxin injectable that works to help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles underneath. Common areas treated include frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet (around the eyes). It's always wise to do your research before going under the needle. Your provider should do a detailed consultation including your medical history, physical examination, and photo consultation prior to treatment. Improperly injected botox in the forehead can lead to droopy brow and eyelid.
