Well this is my first time posting and I am counting down the days. I was supposed to have my pre-op appt today but I was called on Thursday of last week and my appt was canceled. I have not heard form them yet and it is Monday. They have not returned my calls and will not answer the phone. This is a little unsettling so we will see. I can't find any information. So anyways...I am getting the BBL and a Tummy Tuck.I really want to have a round bubble butt with a flat stomach. This has been on my mind for about two years and I am finally getting it done. I am really anticipating the result. I will keep everyone updated... Updated on 12 Apr 2013: Hello everyone...well i decided to go with dr pazmino. I had a great virtual consult and i am very happy with that so far. Im flying out on may 1st and cant wait. I got my medical clearance today so its all good. I have a list of things i need to get. I am posting my before pics so u can see how boxy my body is. Im really looking forward to this surgery. Im ready to get my sexy back. Literally... Updated on 1 May 2013: K so im in LA waiting for my flight to ft lauderdale. I am so excited i can taste it. Im going to post some before pics. Big booty here i come. Updated on 8 May 2013: Well my journey has been long but it is finally over. My butt lift was worth the wait. Dr Pazmino is an excellent Dr and I am so lucky to have found him. He did lipo, butt lift and contoured my body and it liiks amazing. I am still swollen and have alot of fluid in me. I want everyone to know that I was in alot of pain and still am but its getting better. The drains are annoying and they hurt. The lipo hurts and my butt aches really bad. The pain killers do help but wow i was not expecting this. You have to ride in the car on your side where your drains are and where you have been lipod which is not fun. Yiu can also put a pillow on the floor where your feet are and put you knees on the pillow and your hands on the seat. It is embarrasing and alot of people look at you like your crazy. Oh well, its worth i tell myself. I am on day5 and the swelling is going down and i love my shape. I am posting some pics so you can see. Updated on 31 Aug 2017: Okay I am going for round 2 with Dr Pazmino and I am very happy with my first round but now I am wanting to do a tummy tuck with some revisions to my butt Updated on 9 Oct 2017: They are opening up in the Summer of 2018! It's called Miami Diamonds Recovery! Has anyone heard of it?
After looking at this site I have decide to go through with this procedure. I am carrying around some extra weight from the birth of my second child and I figured I might as well put it too use lol! Prior to my second pregnancy I was pretty happy with my body, but it has always frustrated me that any extra fat I have goes solely to my mid section, specifically my lower back and love handles. Now that I am 10-15 lbs heavier it is even more obvios. My butt looks even smaller now that I am bigger!! How is that possible? It hasn't been an easy decision, but I decided to go through with this so i could really be happy with how i look. I have worked out like crazy in the past and although it helps, you can't really choose where you naturally hold your fat. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I am worried how I will handle my two kids in the month following the surgery (my husband will be home the first week), and can't help but feel guilty for being selfish. I just keep telling myself that the recovery will be short in comparison to loving how i look in clothes and out lol. My husband has been super supportive without pushing me into it, which definitely helps. I am sharing on realself because I don't plan to talk about it with my friends and family. I feel guilty about not being honest to people, but i don't want to be judged. I wish I didn't care what people think but I do! I don't want the word to spread that I have a fake booty! Which btw it won't be fake because it's all me fat lol!!(thats what i tell myself to feel better). I don't think im a superficial person, but i am tired of not being happy with my body and i feel like this surgery will take care of that. I chose my doctor thanks to the reviews on realself (thanks ladies!), a good consult and his results.I am not looking for drastic results, just a fuller rounder bottom, with a smaller waist. I want an improvement on my shape without looking like you put my head on someone elses body lol. Thats it for now!Updated on 30 Jan 2013:I am now one day post-op. Everything went well the day of, the only downside is that my blood work came back showing I have anemia, so the doctor said if the fat he is getting has a lot of blood in it he wouldn't be able to take out as much. So far my butt and waist looks good, but I am not trying to get examine it too much because i know it they will both change. The first day home was rough, but I already feel much better. My butt is sore and stiff and my abs are the worst, they feel like they are burning. It really isn't too bad though, especially with the pain killers. I will post pictures soon!Updated on 1 Feb 2013:Question- my doctor doesn't use a board for he tummy area, but I have seen girls get great results with them so I ordered one but I am not sure how to use it. Do you just put it under your garmet? I am 4 days post op and want to do anything I can to maximize my results! Thank you!!Updated on 7 Feb 2013:I feel like my butt is shrinking everyday!!!!!! I am 9 days post op. I knew my butt would be big immediately after surgery and would gradually go down. And it was really big the first 5 days. Since I was never looking to have a huge booty I avoided measuring it or trying on too many things because I didn't want to get attached lol. However my butt has gone down so much in the past 3 days I am freaking out I will lose it all! I measured it the first time two nights ago because I felt like alot of my swelling went down and I was at 41 inches. This morning it looked smaller to me so I measured again and I am at 40. My preop measurement around the fullest part of my butt was 38". I am freaking out because I have been told results aren't stabilized until 2 months. If I keep going at this rate I'll be back to where I started! As of right now I love my shape, even if it goes down a Tiny bit. I'm just trying to stay positive and stay off my butt!!!Updated on 12 Mar 2013:At the 6 weeks post op tomorrow and I am very happy! Love my new body and was worth every penny. My results might not be as drastic as some girls but it is what I wanted, an improvement! Finally getting around to putting up pics, and to be honest I don't think the pictures do me justice lol! I can still nit pick a little, kinda wish I lipoed my thighs and wish my waist was a little smaller but over all I am very happy! Hope my butt doesn't go down any more.! Sorry my before pics are a little blurry, I took a picture of the screen of my camera with my phone lolUpdated on 13 Mar 2013:Had my 6 week post op appointment. The doctor said I'm healing really well, he said my stomach will still go down a bit once the scar tissue heals. He hopes my butt will stay its current size but everyone heals a little different. He said that although the fat takes within a few weeks its still really lol able, so the longer you stay off the better. I still am sleeping on my stomach and try to sit only on my thighs. Again I'm really happy I went through with this. My advice is to have realistic expectations, but if you want to do it go for it! Thank you to all the girls who share their story on real self, it really helped me make my decision! I'm putting up a few more pics too:)Updated on 26 Mar 2013:I can't believe Dr. Hegg has passed. He was a great surgeon, it doesn't seem real. I had 1 more post op appointment but luckily for me I am healing nicely. It seems so superficial to worry how my final results will turn out when he has lost his life. prayers for his loved ones. I will probably delete my account soon because my main reason for creating it was to help girls looking for a surgeon in the Bay Area, or to talk to other Dr. hegg patients. I also feel bad for the ladies who had upcoming surgery dates with him, it must be hard to start the journey all over again. This is a reminder of how precious life is, as much as we persue beauty, we need to cherish life much more.
Well ladies I am so happy I found this site. I can not explain how much everyone's experiences have helped me decided that I really need to do this for ME. Just to give you a little back ground I have been married for 12 years - I'm 30. I have 4 amazing kids, 11, 8, 6 and 2 and my husband is 6 years younger then me. So trying to feel sexy and secure after having 4 kids has been challenging. So yes in a way I am doing this for my husband but more so for ME. I need to feel good about my body again and stop wearing clothes that do not compliment me. But how can I do that if what I see is not attractive. So I am going to schedule my consultation with Dr. Hegg and I truly believe I will be in the best of hands with him. I am so excited to call and start this amazing journey. I will post photos of me before surgery, after surgery and as I recover.
Ok, this is my 2nd attempt in writing this review. My original was longer and more informative but this one will have to do. I am currently 6 days Post Op. Day 1-4 were difficult but it does get better with time. I am very swollen and stiff. can't really say i had any nausea but I did have a low grade fever on day 2/3. Dr Hegg uses local anesthesia and he doesn't use any drains. I usually sleep on my stomach but it is very uncomfortable sleeping on a stomach that has been lipo'd. Pre-Op stats: 5'6 180 lbs, 40d-36-40.5 Post op day 6: 38-33-43 Areas lipo'd: Abs, flanks, back, inner thigh. He told me my results would be better with a TT but i wasn't ready for that. I read a few blogs were Dr's inisted on it. im glad he didnt do that to me. I just wanted to improve my shape and have a butt that would complement my Top. I wasn't looking for a very big butt. I did have plans to tell him not to put more than 1000 cc but I changed my mind and allowed him to put as much as my butt would hold because it will reduce. I wanted to be 5 lbs lighter before my Sx but it didnt happen. I believe that he told me I rec'd 1200 CC's. I will check once i go to my Post Op appt later this week and i will try to post pics by next week. so far I like my results and im definately a work in progress.
I had a eTT & a bbl last Friday . I am having a hard time at night. Could someone please respond and give some pointers on how to sleep at night time. I was told not to sleep on my back, and I can't sleep flat on my tummy I stop taking my pain meds since I don't need them. So far I have lending on my knees, and my chest laying on the bed. Updated on 5 Nov 2012: Here are my pictures at 24 days post-op! Updated on 16 Dec 2012: It has been 2 months since my surgery. Loving my results.. Love how my jeans fit.. Haven't lost any volume.. Started sitting at 6 weeks, and haven't notice any difference. My job requires me to sit 8-9 hrs a day..
Finally did the procedure. I'm 2 days post op and recovery has been tough. Everyone is different, but let me tell you that for me, this was a major procedure and not one to be taken lightly. I am still nauseous from anesthesia and extremely sore/tender. Will definitely post before/ after photos and do a full review. One thing for sure, I can't say enough good things about Dr. Hegg. He's not your average surgeon. Not only are his credentials top notch, he is genuinely kind and patient. I haven't taken off my garment yet but I can already see the hourglass shape. Tonight will be my first shower so I'll see it all then.Updated on 16 Oct 2012:Day 20 I'm still very tight and tender Around waist and tummy area where dr. Hegg lipo'd. He was aggressive just as I asked him to, so I imagine this tightness will linger for awhile. I've been giving myself light massages over the hard lumps but not sure how much that is helping. I sized down on my garment, which is a good sign that the swelling is going down. My waist is going down too, which is very exciting. My only complaint right now is the swelling around the pubic area! Can't wait for that part to go down. Dr. Hegg mentioned I had a lot of fat there. I started sitting on my butt on day 17 but have been very careful not to sit for too long. There are still hard spots on both cheeks but they seem to get softer and more natural feeling each day. I am lagging on photos. Having three kids, it's so hard to find free time.
So, I've been busy preparing and living that I haven't had a chance to post on this site. My search for a booty began last year though my want for a booty has been since birth...lol. I started researching doctors and ultimately decided on Dr. Hegg. I first called his office in Feb. 2012 and spoke with Patty the front desk coordinator who stated that she couldn't even schedule me because he was full through July - even for a consult!!! I was told that I would be put on a waitlist. Nonetheless, I called every week in hopes that someone would cancel. By, late April I actually was a bit embarrased because I thought gee I am really buggin...hahaha but, I was determined and kept calling. It was until May that I got a call from Patty that someone had cancelled. I did some quick maneuvering and headed down to San Leandro. I must say I’d never been to San Leandro, it’s not exactly the cutest little city. It is right next to Eden Medical center which the doc is affiliated with. Ladies be sure that when you do research your doctor is board certified, affiliated with a hospital(s) and has no malpractice suits. Dr. Hegg passed with flying colors. I love that he is literally less than a block away from the hospital – they share the same parking lot!!! Anyhow, his office was nice and clean. When I met him it sealed the deal. Dr. Hegg was so informative, was thorough, explained his technique, and was extremely caring. I truly felt I would be in great hands – literally. He is more partial to a heart-shaped bottom but I did emphasize the want for a bubble-butt. I will have to remind him of that when I see him again for my pre-op. He told me I’d be a great candidate and that I was being to harsh on my body. However, he did say that since my skin was “tight” I may have more post swelling – due to the strong collagen fibers/connective tissue. Heck, under normal circumstances I’d be happy as hell that I have tight skin but due to that it means he is also more limited in how much he can inject My consult was awesome never once did I feel rushed. He was so professional and had great bedside manner. I made a deposit that very day and booked my surgery. I couldn’t believe I finally got in. I asked Patty what number patient I would be and she looked at me puzzled and said that Dr. Hegg only does one BBL per day. That made me feel even more secure with my decision. Other doctors do 3 per day! I love knowing I will be his one and only patient – that means undivided attention – for me it doesn’t get better than that! I am not from San Leandro so I booked a room for 5 days at the Marina Inn. I also have not nor do I plan to tell any of my family or friends. So I have to look for a caregiver. I already found a lymphatic drainage specialist in my area and plan on getting a massage the day before surgery, as is often recommended. I am for the most part prepared and am at peace with my decision. I have seen great results by other doctors like Salama. However, I will not travel for surgery I am just too damn rational. When I weigh the pros and cons I cannot with a right conscious choose a doctor so many miles away. At any rate, I have a great doctor close to me and I am so lucky for that!Updated on 21 Jul 2012:I haven't yet had surgery but realself is askin me to rate...go figure...Updated on 21 Jul 2012:OK so I just posted current pics - I've been actively gaining weight but dont want to gain much more just goin to try to maintain this weight. Can't seem to get past 132lbs seems like my body is happy at this weight and is not budging. I think its fine since Dr. Hegg told me its ok not to gain more he said I could go up 5lbs more if I wanted. My normal weight is 116lbs. Gosh after posting my pics it appears I've got the flattest butt on this site...ughhhhh...fml Oh & forgot to mention I'm going to get my chin & arms done too. seem girls that have done it are really happy with the results heck I figure might aswell. I don't want my thighs/legs done at all though theyre already thin & have never had a problem with them touching :)Updated on 9 Aug 2012:So I got call from Dr. Hegg's office and now instead of Dec my Surgery will be in November...Yay! Well lately I was feelig very lethargic and like a blob - I guess because I was becoming a blob. I stopped working out and had no energy. I thought it only july why am i already trying to gain wt? So, I decided to go back to eating healthy and working out. Boy do I feel much better. I have already lost 6lbs which mean I'm 126lbs... and that's ok I would much rather stuff my face with high healthy caloric food one month before my surgery so in my case would be mid October. If i didn;t go back to working out I don;t know how I would've handled surgery since I would be so deconditioned. I am a bit concerned with going down too much so perhaps when I reach 120lbs I'll just try and maintain it. The great thing about Dr. Hegg is he doesn't require that you gain much weght you should ideally be 10-15lbs over your ideal weight. So, I guess I would highly encourage others to workout while waiting for BBL and just to increase caloric intake, but don't stop exercising. I see it as the energy/reserve I'm going to need to get me through surgery.Updated on 19 Aug 2012:OMG the wait is torturous - I soooooo wish I had booked my surgery earlier :( I want to get on with my life and feel a new booty will just kick start it :) I'm not booked till mid November.....man I regret that now - my original date was first week of October. I want it done so bad - like now!!! I am working out and have dropped down to 120lbs - I'm lucky I lose weight pretty fast - just gunna try and maintain it don't want to drop too much -now I'll just have to eat more - want enough fat to transfer to my booty. Anyhow, I'm so sad and frustrated that I didn't keep my earlier date - Sorry if I sound down I just wish it was my time....now.Updated on 18 Sep 2012:So, still waiting and I've been trying to get other Hegg BBL sisters to give me pointers/advice and its like hearing crickets :( The Salama and Jimmerson BBL sisters seem so much more giving and supportive. Shout out to you guys!!!! You guys are awsome!!! I've tried contacting those who have gone to Dr. Hegg and hear nothing back. I wonder why they fall off the face of the earth once they get their BBLs. I wish we were more supportive. There just doesn't seem to be that comraderie. I hope it's not because they are not happy- I hope its because they're doing so fantastic with their new booties that they forget their former selves :) Anyhow, just wanted to vent because I feel quite a lone in this process and it would've been so nice to hear from others who have been there specifically from those who have gone to Dr. Hegg.Updated on 20 Sep 2012:Oh no - Sherrie the receptionist is so unprofessional - totally lazy. So I get a call from Dr. Hegg's office that my pre-op needs to be rescheduled. I don't want to go through my health insurance as I am keeping everything on the DL. However, if something happens then no problem I'll use my health insurance. But if I don't have to I won't. So, with that being said, I have to get an EKG on my own. It happens that just 100 ft away from Dr. Hegg's office they do EKGs. So, I asked Sherrie if she knew if they were open on the morning of my pre-op? She states "I don't know...I think they're open" to which I reply well can you please find out for me please? She responds "well I guess I'm sure their open". To which I reply "I think it would be awsome if you had their (EKG place) number handy for patients also I am driving from pretty far and I don't want to go on a day that they are not open." she responds "well I think their open...well I'm sure their open". At this point I was just annoyed and rescheduled my appointement. I'm going to have to let Dr. Hegg know how unhelpful she is. To be honest this is the first time she has been lazy, unprofessional, and not helpful at all. I've not wanted to write anything negative always wanting to give her the benefit of the doubt. It's just since the beginning I've not cared for her unprofessional behavior. Anyhow another time she got on my nerves was when I asked if she could mail me my quote - I misplaced it and wanted to know the breakdown. She said "I only have one copy" to which I said well don't you have a copier? You can charge me and please mail it to me. She replies "I don't know why I have to mail it I can just tell you over the phone." I said well I'd like to have it in writing, it seems like this is asking to much from you?" she resonds "fine I'll mail it." I swear if it were not for the awsome consult I got with Dr. Hegg I would reconsider changing doctors simply because his staff well specifically Sherrie is so unprofessional :( This sucks because I really like Dr. Hegg.
Okaay, so I have been debating on this surgery for a long time and I finally decided its a yes. I have researched multiple Dr. and Salama has been by far the most sucessful in my eyes. I live in California and I would love to find a local Dr. but, I want great results and the California Dr. dont have as much experience and most of them cost twice as much. I found Dr. Hegg and he is booked and I was placed on the waiting list. I have no idea when the next appt is available with him. Besides, Salama is known to be very aggressive with the lipo and for giving you a itty bitty waist. Thats what I am looking for. I plan to travel to Aventura and possibly finding a vacation rental to rent with someone else. It would cut the cost in half and provide supp ort. Does anyone know what the process is for Appt. with Salama? With all that being said, I want to thank you all for sharing your life with me and the others. God bless you all. Updated on 18 May 2012: Okay, so called Salama's office and appt. are in nov. I called Hegg's office and I was able to set it up for August. I would have loved to go to salama, i just can take the time in Nov as it is our busy time at work. This is a little surreal. I' m in like sin. Updated on 24 May 2012: Any one using Hegg?Updated on 22 Jun 2012:My appt is set for Aug 20! with Dr. Hegg. I went in for my consult and he said he can do about 600-800 of fat! i need to get my grub on cause if im going thru al this trouble its gonna be worth it! i want it supper big just in case it goes down..... whats funny is that he didnt even ask me what I wanted. When is it that you go into detail about your wish pix? is that the pre-op?Updated on 1 Aug 2012:The countdown begins. I have my pre-op next Thursday. I'm scared and excited!!! I know I have to be realistic but I'm hoping for a itty bitty waist n a big booty.Updated on 10 Aug 2012:I paid off my balance and [RS bleep] just got real! I was forced to reschedule my appt for the pre-op. I need to put together a list of all the stuff I am going to need.Updated on 19 Aug 2012:3 day until the big day!Updated on 19 Aug 2012:I had my pre-op last week. Dr Hegg gave me the scripts for the meds and he explained the process. He said it would take about 4 hours. He then took photos and we went over the wish pix! I'm ready for this!Updated on 1 Oct 2012:It's week 4 and I'm still wearing the damn garment. It's a medium but I need a small. My butt lost volume , but people always say it fluffs out???? Hope so!Updated on 3 Oct 2012:Had my post op visit. Hegg was great and lifted my spirits. He said it might get bigger, if I gain weight. He said its perfect for my body and a good size for my boobs. I asked about round 2 and he said we won't know the real results until after 4 months...
Hi everyone, I've been interested in getting a tummy tuck for a while, and I said what the hell, if I get that I might as well fix the other areas too. So I decided to get the bbl and tt together. This site really helped me in choosing my surgeon!!!!!! I called in Jan 2012 to schedule an appt for a consultation after reading a review here and seeing the before and after results. I also looked up the doctor and I found nothing but good things about him.......Well it seems that he is in extreme high demand because there wasn't an appt available to April! Well between that time and now I've had 2 other consultations and Dr.Hegg was the best! He's very confident and we seem to be on the same page. That was important to me. I'm a mother of 3. So since having kids I haven't been happy with my tummy. I don't have a a lot of stretch marks but I just can't seem to get rid of that belly fat And loose skin.I was hoping I wouldn't need a tummy tuck, but the doctors said my skin would probably sag after if I just did lipo.....I don't wanna take that chance because I'm getting a huge discount on the tummy tuck because I'm doing both together. Well I was hoping to have my Kim Kardash body by the summer but the doctor is already booked till September......so I Scheduled my surgery date for Sept.4th 2012. I had to pay a $500 deposit to book the appt (this seemed to be the average as with other doctors) I don't live in that area so the receptionist suggested that I stay in a hotel near by for the first week because the doctor makes a house call 2 days after to make sure everything is going good, and he has to give me an injection. She said I wouldn't be in any condition to commute to the office so that would be the best bet... I'm really excited!!!! I'm going to try my best to post updates and pictures so my info can help anyone else interested in this type of surgery. I decided to post my own review because most of the girls I seen were pretty slim before their surgery and complained about needing to gain weight. (I wish!) Well I'm 5'1 and I weigh 153 right now. I would consider my self chubby or thick right now. I was told that my results will be better if I lose some weight before that surgery, so that's what I'm going to be working on till then...... I'm a open book so if anyone has any questions feel free to ask! Updated on 2 Jun 2012: hi everyone. I'm posting some current pictures of my body. Omg it is really eye opening to see them! I didn't realizes how out of shape I have gotten!!!!! I'm sooooo disapointed with my self! I have been trying to diet since the begining of the year, but as you can see I haven't been doing to well :( hopefully these eye opening pictures will give me the willpower and motivation to succeed. I'm trying to lose at least 10 pounds before my surgery. I've tried pills, eating healthier, and a little exercise but I have little willpower to stay away from cookies, cakes, frappuccinos, and carbs!!! They're so delicious. I will also try to post some pictures of my body before I became pregnet with my last child (2010) I wieghed about 135-140 at that time. I was thick, but in all the right places. Right now I weigh 151 (but I look more like 180!) I really hope I can lose the weight!!!! I will keep you all posted. Updated on 21 Jan 2013: Hey everyone, sorry I haven't posted an update in a while. I've been really busy!!!! Well I didn't get my surgery in sept after all. I felt I wasn't ready (with my wieght & the holidays right around the cornner) So I rescheduled for late Feb this year. I was able to finally lose some wieght. I wieght about 140-137 right now. I still feel fat! :( Even though my pre-pregnancy jeans fit, and are a lil loose it just doesn't feel the same as before. So I took some body pics today. If I stand different ways my body looks better but I wanted to show my flaws. I promise I will update after my surgery! Good luck all! I'm very excited! My surgery is scheduled for March 5th. I already booked a room at the comfort Inn in Oakland. (Its 8 mins from the office) I found a really good deal online. The room also has a sofa bed, microwave, and frig. The hotel has a gym and indoor spa. Its really nice for the price! ($56 a night) I was gonna go with the Hilton garden Inn but it would of cost me over $100 more and the room doesn't even have a frig or micro. Well we're almost there, so I'll keep you all posted! And thanks to all you girls for the good wishes and support! :) Updated on 8 Mar 2013: Hey girls, so I had my surgery on Tuesday. I'm kinda drugged up right now so I'm gonna keep it short. Everything went well. The Doc only gave me 800 cc. He said that was all I needed. First night of recovery was torture!!!! Second day was ok but third got hard again. Today I think is the best day so far. It's getting easier to get in and out of bed. I brought 2 long pillows and a boppy pillow for sitting and a memory foam pad to lay on the bed. It helps a lot. Pain pills are my best friend right now. Lol now I'm just waiting my drain to stop so the doc can take them out and I can go home. I haven't taken my gerttle off at all. I wish I could cuz its super tight! Well that's all right now. I'll post pics in a week or so. Updated on 8 Mar 2013: Adding a pic of the best way I've found to rest without putting too much pressure on my butt. It's basically 2 couch cushions spaced out about one foot with a 3 " memory foam on top with pillow bellow my head and legs. Hope this is helpful.... Updated on 8 Mar 2013: Dumb iPhone won't let me post the pic. Well I can put it up later. Updated on 10 Mar 2013: Day 6. Ugh! Everything is still such a challenge! 2 very good tips......1) if you have a cough even a little one, RESCHEDULE! If anyone around you has a cough, reschedule! #2) DRINK OUT OF A STRAW! Its easier to sip wrong when you drink from a cup or bottle then a straw. Coughing with a fresh tummy tuck is the worst thing EVER!!! It feels like someone is gutting you from inside. So hopefully that's helpful.... Updated on 25 Mar 2013: Omg Omg, I just got some shocking News! Dr.Hegg has died :,( I couldn't believe it!!!! After my surgery he told me he was going on vacation the following week so I'd have to schedule my follow up for when he comes back. (Which was suppose to be today) Well Last Friday his secretary called me to tell me he hadn't made it back from his trip and I'd have to see another doctor (a friend of Dr.Hegg) for my follow up. I thought Dr.Hegg was just having too much fun and decided to stay longer. I was even joking about it..... Well today at my appt with Dr.Iverson is when I found out that my Doctor is gone forever! :( its sooooooo sad! He was such a nice gifted man! R.I.P DR.STANLEY HEGG.....You will truly be missed! Updated on 22 May 2013: Hey Its been a while but I'm back......I'm going to try to hurry this up because I got to hit the gym today! lol Well I think I'm almost fully recovered. I've started to work out and I feel good. I do still have some stiffness at the bottom of my tummy but that's about it. As for my results :/ I'm happy but not completely satisfied. If Dr.Hegg was still alive, I'd for sure do a round 2!!! I cant afford to start over with another doctor. :( I'm happy that I have a flat tummy now but I was expecting my waist to be smaller and my butt to be bigger. I started working out now. As for my scar, its healing well. Ive been using mederma for about a month now. If anyone has any questions, just ask.....Thanks for stopping by. :) p.s. i'm posting some pics I took today. Updated on 22 May 2013: Updated on 27 Jun 2013: I haven't taken any body pictures lately but when I do I will post them. Over all, I'm about 65% happy with my results. :/ Like I said before, I was expecting my butt to be bigger, and my waist to be smaller. When I'm sitting I still have a gut, but my tummy looks really good when I'm standing! My Hunny is really disappointed! :( He says I look the same as before. lol I guess he was expecting my body to look like Coco. (Ice T's wife) lol Well that's all for now....... Updated on 17 Mar 2014: I don't have a lot of time but I'm adding recent photos and I'll try to add more details when I can.
I didnt like my shape.
It is possible to perform all liposuction, tummy tucks, and BBLs (and everything else e.g. facelifts, rhinoplasties, and breast augmentations) under monitored intravenous sedation and local anesthesia. I know this to be true because I've done this for about 30 years without an anesthesia related complication in an AAAASF accredited ambulatory surgery facility associated with my office. Modern general anesthesia is safe, yet plastic surgical fatalities are mostly related to general anesthesia mishaps or post-op pulmonary embolism. I think that IV sedation is probably safer than general anesthesia. It is certainly less expensive and for BBL ,in particular, it allows much more freedom and safety in the intra-operative positioning and repositioning of the patient. Even though patients report no intra-operative pain and have no clear memory of their operative experience, it is possible to suction the upper back, upper arms, lateral chest and bra-strap rolls, waist, "love handles" and inner thighs and knees and graft the buttocks with the patient in a prone (face down) position and then turn them supine (face up) and suction the abdomen, pubis and anterior inner thighs and then turn them back on either their sides or their stomachs and graft additional fat to the buttocks. The turning is safe and efficient with patient assistance and without the expense of additional drapes and OR personnel that are often required when general anesthesia is used. Local anesthesia also facilitates recovering patients in a prone (face down) position which is advantageous for the freshly grafted buttocks. In the end, it is the personal preference of your surgeon, but sedation and local is definitely safe.
In my opinion it doesn't make much sense to gain more than a few extra pounds before "BBL" unless you intend to keep that weight after surgery. All of the successfully transferred BBLfat is living fat and will fluctuate with weight gain and loss pretty much like it did before transfer. If your pre-surgical weight gain is temporary then you will literally "lose your ass" as you return to your prior weight. A few pounds is probably unimportant, but 5 or 6 probably is and more than ten is sure to be noticed. If you are generally slender with a small face (especially if it's a bit angular and gaunt and could use a little "baby fat") and, even better yet, have a few fatty "problem areas" like the waist, "love handles", and abdomen, then go ahead and gain some weight but only if you are likely to be able to keep in on. Liposuction should be able to reduce the problem areas while enlarging and reshaping the buttocks. The rest of you (face, arms, legs,?breasts?) will tolerate or even enjoy the extra pounds. But don't gain weight if you don't like what you see in a facial mirror. And don't bother to gain weight if you can't or don't intend to keep it on. Overweight patients should ideally try to get close to their target weight before surgery. Major weight loss after BBL will result is in some loss of buttock size. Major weight gain after BBL could lead to a more irregular result in the donor areas. I advise all my liposuction patients to lose 1-3 pounds in the months after surgery in the belief that they will have a smoother result by shrinking any minor subcutaneous surgical irregularities and avoiding magnifying these irregularities with weight gain. This advice is hard to take for the BBL patients since it means some loss of buttock size will occur as well. I do my best to over correct the buttocks enough to yield a satisfactory result.
The short answer is: Not if there is little or no weight gain after surgery. My personal favorite candidates for BBL (liposuction and autologous fat transfer by injection) are women who want shapelier bottoms and who also have relatively poor waist definition and unwanted excess fat elsewhere on their bodies. These patients can look forward to a true "win-win" outcome: a shapelier figure with a smaller waist and rounder, firmer, fuller buttocks. Not everyone gets the full increase in buttock size that they dream of because 20% or more of the injected fat is commonly lost in the process. However, reduction of the back, waist, abdomen and thighs is more certain and a smaller waist can give a more "hour-glass figure" and make the buttocks look better and larger even if the grafting is slightly disappointing. Thus the "win-win". I caution all liposuction patients to be mindful of their weight after surgery. Losing a few pounds is a great idea; it will tend to smooth out any small irregularities. On the other hand, weight gain of more than a few pounds can theoretically magnify minor subcutaneous imperfections and turn a good outcome into a lumpy one. When liposuction of an area such as the waist and abdomen is aggressive and thorough, the number of fat cell in these areas is significantly reduced. This means that excess calories taken in after surgery aren't likely to be stored at those sites and must be stored elsewhere. New fat will have to accumulate in new areas that probably were not liposuctioned. This is good news if those excess calories go to the transplanted fat in the buttocks and many patients will be happy if these calories go to increase their breast size. The bad news is that weight gain after liposuction may go to unwanted areas such as the face, arms, thighs and inner abdomen. I say "bad news" because these areas can be difficult or impossible to correct with liposuction. I've seen both the good and the bad and always urge patients to be careful. There should be no change in body shape and no "movement" of fat after the initial surgical transfer has settled down if a patient's weight is stable.
