I am 9 weeks out from a deep plane neck & facelift, upper & lower bleph with fat transfer under eyes. My experience has been fantastic. From Dr. Starkman, to the surgical assistant to the office staff & even the Dr. doing a fellowship under Dr. Starkman was amazing and took such pride in the practice. Recovery for me was wayyy more intense (not painful) than I had imagined. They were very clear on what to expect however because I am so active and eat well I didn’t anticipate it to be as intense (3-4 days). They provided a nurse for the first 24 hours, meals for 5 days and daily hyperbaric oxygen treatments to speed up recovery which I did for 10 days. I had several consults and his facilities & staff are above par in my opinion. I typically don’t leave reviews or share public photos of myself, however it is well deserved. This is 9 weeks post op (and still swollen which is normal ). Friends and family ask me two questions..1. Should I goto him & 2. Would I do it again. Hands down YES to both. I would do it again and I would choose him again and yesss I recommend Dr Starkman & his team :)
Just had a rhinoplasty done by Dr Starkman and I can honestly say I’m already so happy with my results. I have been searching for the perfect doctor to perform this surgery for the past 5 years. After going through my consultation with him, I knew right away he will be the perfect doctor for me. He is very attentive and actually listens to what you want and gives valuable input on what he believes will look most natural for your face. The post-op care was remarkable as well. His whole staff is amazing and so caring, I could have not asked for a better experience. They truly have exceed my expectations. Would recommend to everyone.
I genetically have a long philtrum, that has bothered me my whole life. I started doing lip injections about 10 years ago..fast forward 10 years and I feel my philtrum has lengthened and my fillers started to bill out/spread and become heavy. My lip became weighed down. Botox ‘lip flips’ were no longer working and I knew I had to make the move and start looking into surgical options at this point. I am posting here, because of all the other brave women who posted their photos and stories and helped me make the leap! Thank you! I had my surgery about 6 hours ago. Pain is minimal, some burning and I also have swelling. I will document my progress with more pics on my road to recovery. I also wanted to say a quick thank you to Dr. Starkman! He listened to my wants, and helped me make an informed decision when it came to this surgery. He was patient, and listened to my concerns. His entire staff is incredible and so sweet. I felt so welcome and at ease. The whole process couldn’t have gone smoother. Thank you all again for making my experience exceptional! Updated on 14 Nov 2020: Still have some swelling and the upper lip is still tight. Continuing to cleanse the area 3x a day with hydrogen peroxide and applying aquaphor. I am loving how I can take a photo at any angle without worrying about the length of my philtrum and how it will look. Updated on 15 Nov 2020: Having some itching, as the skin is healing. Looking a little irritated today, so I used bacatracin vs auqaphor on the incision line. Possibly more red because I took a long, warm shower this morning. No pain, smiling and movement is progressing. Updated on 19 Nov 2020: I am officially one 1 post op! I had my stitches taken out yesterday. Doctor said everything looks good, continue to use aquaphor for the rest of the week and keep incision clean. I will be starting to use Silagen scar gel next week. Updated on 13 Dec 2020: Things are going great so far! Happy with outcome at one month. I feel all swelling has gone down. The muscle is tight still, I can smile though. These new pics were before I was about to head out, so I have full makeup on and lips a little over lined. Updated on 19 Dec 2020: Wanted to share another picture, without makeup, just a little chapstick :) My one month update. Will be seeing my surgeon in 2 days. For the ladies that have been hesitant... I was in your situation for years! I promise you, the scar is SO minimal and the procedure is easy I am still within the healing process and the scar will become less noticeable as the months go on. Honestly, It doesn’t even catch my eye at this point! Updated on 18 Aug 2021: Everything looks amazing. Swelling has gone down complelty and I am very happy with my results. The scar has faded and is now white, and hardly noticable. You would have to have a trained eye to see the incision line scar. Updated on 18 Aug 2021: Adding more photos to the roughly nine month update. Full range with my smile, no restrictions, natural results. Would do it again and highly recommend! With makeup on, you can not see the scar at all, without makeup it is very minimal and only a trained eye would notice. Updated on 23 Oct 2024: This update comes 4 years post op lip lift. The scar is minimal, makeup does tend to settle in the crease at times. I have not received any laser scar therapy, the scar is barely noticeable. I widened my smile with porcelain veneers in 2023 and had rhinoplasty and a brow lift with Dr Starkman in 2022. My facial features are more balanced and I am happy with the procedures I have had. I had a great experience with Dr. Starkman when he did my lip filler. He listened to my concerns about not having my lips look fake or overfilled. They turned out beautiful and still natural looking. He was kind, professional and confident. I definitely recommend him!
I got a rhinoplasty with Dr. Starkman a year ago. After hastily researching rhinoplasty surgeons in my area, I settled on Starkman thinking that although I did not like the aesthetic of his noses, the few really great results he posted are good enough for me to undergo surgery with him. In the long run, I blame myself for continuing to move forward with a surgeon whose aesthetics did not align with my own except in a few of his cases. Before I get into specifics, I will state that I am not happy with the aesthetic outcome of my nose. I have an accentuated hanging columella, my nose is too upturned, and my nostrils are very visible from the front and sides. I have suffered from mild identity loss and depression as a result of my surgery. Some of these issues I was not anticipating based on my morph and Dr.Starkman even saying "it will be so subtle that most people won't even be able to tell you had a nose job." My nose came out very different from my birth nose, and even the features I liked were not kept. While I am disappointed in my outcome, I do not feel botched and I genuinely think Dr.Starkman did an acceptable job with my nose. Functionally it works good, and he is very skilled as an ENT in assuring you can breath well after—however a columellar strut graft is causing a clicking noise whenever I touch it, which doesn't really mess with functionality other than makes you feel strange. Aesthetic wise, I no longer have a large dorsal hump and I get a lot of compliments on my appearance now, something that did not happen often before. I thank Dr.Starkman for giving me a new found beauty that others can finally see, even if the results are not the best. I am proceeding with a revision with a different surgeon. I do not suffer from Body Dysmorphia, and genuinely there are some apparent aesthetic issues with my nose. My experience started with a consultation with Starkman in person. Dr.Starkman is kind, attentive and willing to make changes to the morphs to best suit your taste. I did find Starkman would be quick to go through concerns in a way that could come off as a little bit unconcerned, but I didn't consider this to be an abnormality with an ENT. My entire life has been spent in the offices of ENT's due to sinus/ear issues, and Dr.Starkman was the nicest ENT I've met in my entire life. That's partly the reason I also decided to proceed. I suffer from pretty intense generalized anxiety, so having a kind doctor is important to me. I like to know that I am in a kind humans hands in the event something goes wrong. The aesthetic we agreed on was relatively similar to my old nose, except with no dorsal hump, less bulbosity to the tip (a mistake that I regret asking for), and a very subtle upturn to the tip. I asked if the upturning would cause my nostrils to appear bigger and Starkman said "ehh not really". This was reassuring but would not hold up. Before surgery day I believe a month prior to surgery, I emailed Dr Starkman asking for a detailed list of what he would do to my nose and i never got a response. I didn't make this a big deal, but I should have. On surgery day, he came to me and talked to me before we headed in the OR, I was extremely anxious (something i told them I have) and Starkman asked if I'd like to reconsider. I said no and that I'd like to do it I was just extremely scared. And then I asked if he could please not upturn the tip too much. He said yes and then we proceeded with the surgery. The day of my surgery the nurse coordinator, i do not remember her name, was kind until I started to get anxious. She was unpleasant and rude and I genuinely think that her behavior was unacceptable. The anesthesiologist was incredibly personable, and made me feel at ease as I went under anesthesia for the first surgery of my life. I had some sort of crazy panic episode before I was put out due to the anesthesia, and then I woke up with a cast on my face. I did not see Dr.Starkman at all after and didn't get the "surgery went well" talk, which was kind of unexpected. The healing process was insane, typical of a rhinoplasty -- but something that dr starkman nor the pamphlet adequately warns patients about. My nose was extremely swollen and alien-like for a good 10 months until it finally started to settle. I was originally led to believe I'd be okay by 2 week, this is typical of many rhinoplasty surgeons in order to not turn people off from committing. With my swelling, Dr Starkman would frequently reassure me, and I appreciate his patience in this area. Though I think he relies too much on the "its swollen" thing more than actually taking time to address valid patient concerns over aesthetics. I may be painted as someone who wants perfection, but I don't. I want my nose downturned and that's not widely considered apart of the ideal nose. I just want to feel like myself again without the bump. I am now getting a revision and I wish that I had researched a doctor that better aligned with my aesthetic goals. I also wish that Dr.Starkman adequately warned patients during the consult of the intense year of healing you will have a head of you. I wish that he would have said "no!" to me asking for a thinner tip because it was thin to begin with, but then again I'm the one that asked for it, so. I wish that a different technique could have been used with the tip and it was less upturned and less piggy. Some people really like this look, but ethnicity wise and my facial character does not suit this look so nicely, even if it is prettier than my old nose objectively speaking. I wish I could give a 2 1/2 star review, realself doesnt allow the 1/2 -- but I now have to spend 20k on a fix for this with another surgeon. I am a hard working person, I am not rich, and this is what is keeping my review at 2 rather than 3.
I did a consultation at the office and it was so gorgeous there, everything feels very luxury! The entire office is beautiful. The staff is extremely nice and caring, You can definitely tell that they take customer service very seriously. The doctor himself was very patient and knowledgeable and kind. He took his time and explained everything in detail to me. He took me into a room and showed me some images to get an idea of what kind of result would like to achieve. Images were willing to alter them more if I wanted after I left. I’m still considering doing this procedure because it’s a terrifying thought. You really have to trust the doctor 100% with something like this, And Dr. Starkman is a very, very nice person And has good energy and good vibes for sure . I really don’t like my side profile and I never have, It’s just a lot to consider. I will, however, be having eyelid surgery with him for sure, And once I do that, I will write another review for that service. Updated on 10 Mar 2025: After talking to a few of his patients, some of them had really good experiences, and some of them had really bad experiences. The bad experiences made me get cold feet. My first impression of this doctor was great, you barely see any bad reviews- however on yelp if you go to photos you’ll see where he had to settle with someone he injured.
Sometimes insurance will cover rhinoplasty for a broken nose, but their approval varies from case to case and can be unpredictable. It helps for the physician to submit photographs with the approval request, and if there are any x-rays or medical documents that report a previous fracture that is helpful as well. All the best, Dr. Starkman
Hello, that lower eyelid roll that you are describing is caused by the pull of the muscle under the lower eyelid which causes the roll that you are describing in your photograph. A treatment option, which is extremely successful in trained hands, is using a micro-dose of Botox (about 2 units) to relax the lower eyelid muscle and eliminate that roll. I always make sure to reserve this treatment for younger patients with strong lower eyelid strength. If you pursue this treatment, make sure to find a plastic surgeon or provider who is experienced in the technique. All the best, Dr. Starkman
There are no concerns with a massage one week after Botox treatments. My only recommendation after Botox is no exercise for the remainder of the day. Some providers recommend not lying down for a few hours after treatment, but there is no evidence that lying down would have any effect. All the best, Dr. Starkman
Hello, there are a pair of muscles that lift the side of the mouth when smiling called the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi. The insert right at the areas where your upper lip lifts when smiling. A popular treatment for this is botox/dysport to weaken the muscles. Now this treatment is temporary as it lasts between 3-4 months. Be wary of permanent treatments, such as a lip lift because an overly short lip can look unnatural. Best regards, Dr. Starkman
There can be occasional incidence of nodule formations after hyaluronic acid filler injections. Normally the hyaluronic acid in filler will soften and integrate with the surrounding skin in the weeks after injection. Rarely the filler does not integrate well and instead forms a ball (or a nodule). The treatments that have shown some benefit are hyaluronidase injections, which is an enzyme that dissolves the material in filler. Sometimes it requires multiple injection treatments. Other times, steroid injections can be helpful in select cases. It's important to find an experienced plastic surgeon or injector who can recognize whether what you have is a nodule, and then offer the correct treatment plan. All the best, Dr. Starkman
