Best Decision I’ve Made!

WORTH IT
I genetically have a long philtrum, that has bothered me my whole life.
I started doing lip injections about 10 years ago..fast forward 10 years and I feel my philtrum has lengthened and my fillers started to bill out/spread and become heavy.
My lip became weighed down. Botox ‘lip flips’ were no longer working and I knew I had to make the move and start looking into surgical options at this point.
I am posting here, because of all the other brave women who posted their photos and stories and helped me make the leap! Thank you!
I had my surgery about 6 hours ago.
Pain is minimal, some burning and I also have swelling.
I will document my progress with more pics on my road to recovery.
I also wanted to say a quick thank you to Dr. Starkman!
He listened to my wants, and helped me make an informed decision when it came to this surgery.
He was patient, and listened to my concerns. His entire staff is incredible and so sweet. I felt so welcome and at ease. The whole process couldn’t have gone smoother. Thank you all again for making my experience exceptional!

Still have some swelling and the upper lip is still tight.
Continuing to cleanse the area 3x a day with hydrogen peroxide and applying aquaphor.
I am loving how I can take a photo at any angle without worrying about the length of my philtrum and how it will look.

Length of Philtrum is shorter but the swelling makes them look hugely inflated and fake. You also have a protruded " duck lip" look.

Actually "trout mouth" and duck lips.

How crazy that somebody would go out of their way to spread hate. I think you look great.

I think the above comments might be jealous! Your early results look absolutely perfect! What a beautiful difference. Congratulations

Thank you Laur!
I think people that are not familiar with plastic surgery do not understand the process of healing and the concept of swelling.
This isn’t my first rodeo w/ plastic surgery, so no offense takin by the inexperienced. Sad to see someone go out of their way to spread negativity, but some people are just wired like that

My doctor dissolved my filler before doing the lift (2 weeks prior). I will be adding filler in about a month, as I do prefer a full look. Very happy with the shape so far!

Day 4

Having some itching, as the skin is healing. Looking a little irritated today, so I used bacatracin vs auqaphor on the incision line. Possibly more red because I took a long, warm shower this morning. No pain, smiling and movement is progressing.

You look fabulous already! I love that he made the incisions around the outside of your nostrils too, and lifted the entire upper lip. Some only go under the nostrils and patients end up looking strange and rabbit-toothed.

could you tell me during his procedure did he remove skin only, or did he do the undermining where the cut deeper and pull up the muscle a bit. I’m just wondering after swelling goes down, does it effect the way your lips move or smile. I’m sure it’s too early to tell at this point

I’m not sure, I just had my stitches removed yesterday.
I’m trying not to smile and let things heal right now. I have dissolvable stitches that are in my upper lip, in the deeper tissue. I can not feel these at all.
I definitely can smile, it feels very tight, and all of that will subside with time. My swelling has decreased as well. I will post new pics today :)

Can’t wait to see how they look once swelling goes down :)
I was very clear that I wanted as much taken as he felt comfortable with.
At my request, I wanted a perky upturned lip, and that is exactly what he gave me :)
