I’ve been seeing Dr. Idriss for a few years and have had a few different treatments at her practice; lasers, hyfrecation and injections. I couldn’t be happier with my results. I never feel Dr. Idriss pushes anything she’s even deterred me from expensive treatments that I had inquired about but she didn’t think was a good fit for me, I appreciated that so much and am so grateful. She is attentive, honest and direct while still being kind and patient. I’m so glad I found her when I did and look forward to my appointments. Her office is stunning and I adore all the candy in the office, I never have to wait longer than a couple minutes and all her staff are wonderful. I’ve been to several “high end” dermatology practices in nyc over the years but I’m done looking. Dr idriss has a great eye and an aesthetic that matches mine and most importantly I trust her.
I saw her before she opened her own practice for botox, lip filler (my first time) and a keloid scar on my shoulder. When she saw my keloid scar which I’ve had for years she tried to convince me it wasn’t a keloid and said it looked like a type of cancerous mark. I have a history of keloids so obviously not the case. She did a laser treatment on it then said filler would help with the areas that had sunk in from steroid injections. I was desperate to have it look better and agreed. Looking back on it, it makes no sense to have filler placed on a scar that is essentially already risen. The point is to flatten it out, not to fill in the dips. It cost me around $1500 just for the scar. The lip filler was very subtle which is what I wanted. But it was so subtle that you couldn’t tell a difference at all!!! Nothing! The Botox made my face swell up and my eyebrows went up to high for a few weeks. I’ve had it done several times since then and it never happened again. Overall, she was very expensive and frankly not worth it. More than that, she was disappointing as a person. On social media she comes across as friendly and caring, which is why I went to her. I thought she’d treat me like a person, not just another transaction. She was very short, not friendly, didn’t seem caring or truly listened to me. I wrote her to tell her I didn’t think my lips looked different at all and she just dismissed me and said they looked great and she only worked with people that wanted a natural look. I’m all for a natural look, but a natural look that looks like nothing was done and costs 3k is not worth it.
Dr. Idriss recommended this procedure to tighten skin. I brought up concerns over people seeing fat loss and sagging but she blamed poor providers etc and said it had never happened to her. In the months that followed the procedure my skin began to sag rapidly and I now have a completely different face shape. The fat in my cheeks is gone and I have significant jowls despite being thin and in my early 30s. I have so much loose skin that I can pull it out several inches as seen in the photo I posted. This has had a huge impact on my mental health and confidence. As we've seen with covid, different people's bodies can have very different reactions to the same thing. Thousands of people have had laser damage and some people are totally fine. There's no way to know which you'll be. To the doctors who are making money off of this procedure and denying any risk: what you're doing has devastating consequences, please stop offering these products or at least acknowledge the risks so others don't have to go through this nightmare.
Dr. Idriss has a huge Instagram following and a long wait time for new patients but I would advise going to someone else. The biggest issue is that she is unkind. Doctors need to realize that when discussing features there's a nice way to do it because when you're talking about someone's face it is very personal. Dr. Idriss talked about how I was going to end up gaunt and make rude remarks about how quickly my facial volume had disappeared. While I recognize I was there to talk about flaws some of the things she said were very triggering, especially given that it is well known that a large percentage of patients seeking cosmetic improvement have body image issues. She went as far as to say another patient (featured on instagram) looked 'beat up' before treatment. Incredibly inappropriate. I spent a ton of money with her and saw at best no results. At worst negative results and fat loss from laser treatment. Don't believe the hype and go to someone who has a better bedside manner.
